I can't stop listening to this band. I'm working my way through their discography with Rainier, he's loving them too.

Also I'm convinced that Convex, Concave totally inspired the main riff on Slither.

They are coming to my hometown with a gig for the first time in a couple of months. I know and like their singles, but I really dunno whether to go see them or not.

They're spectacular live! You should check out their live DVD 'Revolutions', if you want to see what they're like in a live setting. I personally think they're one of the best live bands out there. I saw them 3 times last year and all three times they were insanely good.

Ok.

They are performing in a small club, hosting only a couple thousand people. Doubt they will even fill the house.

Anybody have any idea about what With Aplomb is all about? That song is tragic, I'm in love.

It provokes more of a feeling than it makes sense to me. I've never really analysed it though, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to make sense to anyone but Simon.

You're probably right. I read the lyrics and I've got nothing. I went onto songmeanings.com but I didn't get much except for an acid trip? I don't know, the song is top notch though.

Whenever I listen to The Captain from the Wembley show, I hear ALTER BRIDGE instead of MON THE BIFF! Then I remember that it was a DC3 production and I start getting all conspiracy-y. >_>

Seriously though this band, good lord. The show from Reading last year is incredible.

I have a confession, I bought Opposites last week and I can't stop listening to it. I feel ashamed for not listening to this band sooner and would like to apologize for blowing off this thread. Sorry guys :hug

Seems like they manage to build into epic choruses real easy, really gets my energy going. i.e. Biblical, Black Chandelier, Different People, Accident Without Emergency, etc. Really looking forward to checking out more of their catalog.

So Rainier and I finally finished Biffy's discography last night with the second disc of Opposites, this band is ridiculously consistent with their songs. There is not one single song of theirs that I don't like and I find myself constantly going back to listen to them. Trumpet or Tap is incredible, it's distracting me from finishing writing this paper right now and I'm not even mad about it.

What's with the baby eating references on Opposites? Do I have more to look forward to in other albums?

"Eating babies, drinking black brandy" (Victory Over the Sun)
"I'll turn your baby into lemonade" (Little Hospitals)

:/ Just 1 new song that wasn't included in any of the singles. Well, at least Similarities will bring some nice B-Sides in the light. I noticed many Biffy fans never listened to B-Sides or to the first 3 albums...

It's okay.. Some songs are pretty good, but overal it's just a compilation record. The tracklisting is kinda random (in order of when they were released) so there's not really a flow and the songs are fun to listen to, but not on par with the majority of Opposites. So it's a fun thing to listen to as a fan, but the quality is not as high as their studio albums.

Re: 5 extra bucks?! WHY?

Post by zazthespaz »

Bought Similarities today. Pretty good, only listened to about half of it but really liked the majority of it! Do understand why they were all B-sides though, not up to the par of a lot of songs on Opposites.

Curious as to why I paid more for it than I did Opposites when Opposites has more songs and isn't a compilation...
