The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread
Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread
I listened to a few of the small teasers they posted and I think they MIGHT be heading back in the right direction, keeping my fingers crossed...

I may be holding out hope, but I'm sort of believing their comments. From my understanding, the guys did some things on the 3rd album that their label pretty much forced. I enjoyed that album too, but I think they're going to go for a more raw sounding record with this one.

I don't understand record labels at times. So BSC had their 3rd album mapped out and all of that, but their label (which is Roadrunner) supposedly said to change some of their songs?

I think they just wanted more commercial sounding stuff. I thought outside writers were even brought in to help with it too, but I can't remember that for sure.

Boy, it could be an interesting contrast compared to what AB has where you know for sure there will be no outside writers and that's bound to be a reason why AB signed with RR in the 1st place, right?

Re: White Trash Millionare is a hit in WV, who knew?
Yeah I can't really recall the specifics, but it is interesting. Their 3rd album did have some popular singles around this area though.

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread
I frankly liked their more "commercial" 3rd album. They did it quite well.
It is business. Expect the UK, BSC is a commercially unsuccessful band. The label saw they needed to do something different. For once, I think the label actually made the right decision. The 3rd album was probably more successful, which probably helped them from getting drop from the label in the US.
Hopefully, the band can make a happy balance between the commercial sound and true BSC sound.
As for AB, they are signed with Roadrunner internationally. They are less meddling with the songwriting process. The one reason AB didn't get a offer from Roadrunner USA was b/c they didn't have enough radio-friendly hits on ABIII. I think Roadrunner USA wants push in mainstream rock band towards a Nickelback style band. AB made the best decision by going independent in the US.

All right, according to the Download Festival forums that I frequent, at times, the new album is apparently called Magic Mountain (Funny, I thought, for some reason, Six Flags trademark that term so that it does not get used anywhere else) and it's going to be out on May 5th (don't know if that applies to the states).

Before their third album, these guys were at the forefront of rock and roll for me (with AB obviously). Then that turd came out. Ugh. Im hoping for a miracle with the new album. That new song sounds like a step back on track. Still a bit simplistic. I really miss the lyrics that told a story. Really liking the dualing solos.
Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread
Checking out some live videos of them playing the new single. Definitely seems like a step back into the right direction.

Well, thanks to Jim's twitter feed, here is the link to the full studio track of "Me and Mary Jane." Oh yeah, this is pretty rocking.

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread
That was surprisingly good, miles better than the Download version. Instrumentally it's leaps and bounds ahead of their last album, lyrics let the song down though.

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread
The lyrics are cringeworthy and I don't really like the chorus.. The rest of the song is pretty cool though.
