The Hobbit/LOTR

Post by Timotheus »

A fan made this re-edit of all the material that's out there and turned it into one big trailer. There's a lot of stuff in there that isn't in the trailers, so definitely check it out if you're a fan!

I'm excited as hell that we're so close to this movie :D it's going to be phenomenal! :bow

I haven't heard much about this other than the fact that many theaters are upgrading to 48fps projectors for this movie, which is apparently somewhat of a controversial decision. I for one am looking forward to the smoothness that 48fps promises! In fact I might actually go to the theater to see this one, which I rarely do.

CAN. NOT. FUCKING. WAIT.

This was my favorite book for a long time when I was growing up and I've read it about 4 or 5 times. Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy is probably my favorite film series of all time. Can't stress how much I'm looking forward to this.

I have watched The LOTR movies an obscene number of times. It will be awesome to have a new one to add to the pile.

Ian McKellen: 'Filming 'The Hobbit' made me cry with frustration'
Actor wasn't pleased to be acting green screen scenes

Ian McKellen has revealed that he became so frustrated filming green screen scenes for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey that he burst into tears on set.

Contact Music reports that the actor, who played the wizard Gandalf in all three of Peter Jackson's Lord Of The Rings trilogy and has reprised the role for The Hobbit, said he found it so difficult to shoot scenes on his own that he threw a tantrum on set.

"In order to shoot the dwarves and a large Gandalf, we couldn't be in the same set," he said. "All I had for company was 13 photographs of the dwarves on top of stands with little lights – whoever's talking flashes up. Pretending you're with 13 other people when you're on your own, it stretches your technical ability to the absolute limits."

He added:

'And I cried, actually. I cried. Then I said out loud, 'This is not why I became an actor.' Unfortunately the microphone was on and the whole studio heard.'

The promotional campaign for the trilogy is now picking up speed as the first film approaches. An Unexpected Journey gets its worldwide premiere in New Zealand on November 28 before opening in UK cinemas on December 14. You can watch the trailer by clicking at the bottom of the page.

Jackson's second Hobbit film, The Desolation Of Smaug, will follow in December 2013, before the trilogy concludes with There And Back Again in July 2014. Alongside McKellen, the films star Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and boast an ensemble cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, Bret McKenzie and Orlando Bloom.

Local theater is doing a LOTR marathon a few days before The Hobbit is released. It's tempting... I have all 3 DVDs but it's not the same on the tiny screen.

So glad a friend took me to the first movie years ago. I hadn't read the books before but was hooked a few minutes into the first movie and read them all soon.

There's a 40 seconds clip on this site. I haven't watched it yet, because I don't want to spoil the movie too much. Seeing little parts in a trailer is different from seeing 40 seconds straight from the movie.
Anyway, maybe I can make somebody happy with this!

40 seconds out of like a 3 hour movie, I'm sure it won't spoil it too much

Na, I read what it's about. It's an important part in the story.. If it just were a random conversation I wouldn't mind. I'd rather see it on the big screen for the first time.

didn't the book do a sufficient job spoiling everything about 60 years ago?

Well, good for you, T, for staying pure. But spoiling the movie over 40 seconds? That's like Jim seeing the outline of Demi's nipple in a photo and losing all interest in bagging her after that.
