Nickelback's Feed the Machine album. The 19th album released in 2017 that I have listened to. I actually have high hopes for this album and not dreading having to listen to a Nickelback album. I blasted one of their singles, Song on Fire, a lot and I really enjoyed that song which already makes it a step-up from their last album (which I barely liked any songs, except for Satellite, but Satellite was more of a guilty pleasure sort of song, while I just plain liked Song on Fire in terms of their sappy ballads). Let's see how the rest of the album fares.
austinjhnsn wrote:Ang, Home is my favorite of that album. Surprised they actually took a step back from the poppy direction they were headed towards and kind of went back to their roots. I dig the album for the most part.
anguyen92 wrote:Yeah, with the exception of Feed the Machine, Song on Fire, and After the Rain, the 1st half of the album kinda dragged for me. From Home onward, it picked up nicely incorporating the things that I really loved about post-grunge/alternative metal music as a kid and still love to this day.

The two "The Betrayal" songs was actually quite surprising to hear from a musical standpoint (one of them was an instrumental. Nickelback doing an instrumental. Think on that one. That's a shocker that I did not expect). It's like finding out that Hulk Hogan can really actually wrestle at one point (which he mainly did in Japan. Not so much in the states where's he's more of the Sportz Entertainment kind of guy that he made his big money, of course).

I give the album a 7.5/10. The highs are good enough for me.

Their new album has some pretty catchy songs on it but this one is probably my favorite. I don't even like Nickelback but this song is pretty good.
I really like Feed the Machine. My top 2 are "For the River" and "Home." "The Betrayal" stuff is great, too.

Haven't heard this song in a few years now. Still very captivating.

Johnny Cash's version of Hurt. Honestly, when I first heard this song, I thought Johnny Cash's was the original and NIN did the cover and not the other way around. That's just how good Johnny Cash's interpretation of it was.

I remember when Cash's version of that song was released like 15 tears ago. I liked it. But one of my country music loving friends thought it was terrible, lol.

Queens of the Stone Age - No One Knows.

You know. In light of QOTSA releasing a new album, and their new single being pretty darn catchy, I want to go on a Josh Homme listening bender and listen to all things related to him (QOTSA, Them Crooked Vultures, maybe other various projects that he took a part of). If only I can commit myself to doing that, but laziness gets in the way of that.

Imagine Dragons' Evolve album. The 21th album released in 2017 that I have listened to.

From the songs I hear on the radio, they are pretty much hit or miss to me. I'm not a huge fan of Radioactive, but I do like Believer and Demons. Let's see how they fare on a full album.

Edit: Well, I tried. Only liked around 3 songs. Probably won't relook at this one anytime soon. I still peg Ed Sheeran's ÷ album as my favorite mainstream act album of the year, this year. Zac Brown Band's Welcome Home is a pretty close 2nd favorite in mainstream, #1 favorite overall.
