Oh my bad lol.
Re: Why religion is unlogical
Well that's convenient isn't it? OK so the bible, yeah you admit there could be some bullshit in there. But that whole god part, yeah that part is certainly not bullshit. Got it.ALTERSTEVE wrote:Not if you don't believe the Bible is infallible, inerrant, or complete, which I don't. It never claims to be.Vaux wrote:I see. Yeah if you're saying god exists or he doesn't.... well I guess I can't prove god doesn't just like I can't prove unicorns don't either. But he ceases to be unfalsifiable when you attribute things to him. If the bible is to be believed - which it's god's word right? Well, that sure as shit is falsifiable.
I love how religious people get to pick and choose which religion and what parts of the religion they want to believe, and pretend like the rest doesn't exist.

I'm a Christian, and I believe the Bible is 100% true. I don't think there should be picking and choosing.

Have you ever eaten pig? Shrimp? Lobster? Or worn a polyester cotton blend?Andy92 wrote:I'm a Christian, and I believe the Bible is 100% true. I don't think there should be picking and choosing.
Re: Why religion is unlogical
Well that is admirable, but if you believe the bible is 100% percent true... yikes.Andy92 wrote:I'm a Christian, and I believe the Bible is 100% true. I don't think there should be picking and choosing.
Re: Why religion is unlogical
Yes. Any TRUE Christian believes the bible is absolutely 100% truth.Andy92 wrote:I'm a Christian, and I believe the Bible is 100% true. I don't think there should be picking and choosing.
Re: Why religion is unlogical
im a strong Christian, and i believe 90 % of it, but some of it i dont agree with. i dont think it makes me any less Christian, i think it makes me more human. God gave us our free wills people, and with that comes our opinions, including those of Christianity. So whether or not people believe it is there choice.
Re: Why religion is unlogical
Unfortunately, you're confusing Jewish cannon with Christianity.
In Christianity: The Old Testament is in the Bible for encouragement and to tell the back story of the coming Messiah. Jesus, to Christians. The New Testament is the new law, and states that because of the coming of Christ, the old laws pass away, making the old testament invalid unless you're Jewish, in which case you don't believe Jesus was the Messiah, and should still not be eating meat or wearing polyester. :p
The new testament doesn't really say a lot about what you can and can't eat. It's more about forgiveness and acceptance.
It's a common misconception in Christian lore that the edicts of the Old Testament should apply to modern Christianity, but it's simply not true.

AB23, just out of curiosity, can you give some examples of stuff you don't believe?

Re: Why religion is unlogical
The Old Testament laws were used as predecessors before Christ to show that no man can justify himself by works. Christ came to earth as a sacrifice so that we could come to Him through faith. No human was capable of keeping every Old Testament law, except Christ himself in human form.IzziSixx wrote:Have you ever eaten pig? Shrimp? Lobster? “So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. " - Galatians 3:24-25.
