What grinds your gears?

No problems. That's my fault for making up words.

Re: What grinds your gears?
I was recently involved in a verbal altercation with a young man in my Public Speaking Class. He was mocking a young lady in our class who has a stuttering problem and is of special needs while she was speaking.
I am going to school to be a Special Education Teacher. I want to teach kids with disabilities. I take severe offense to mocking someone because of something they cannot control.
I told him to stop mocking her or I would go to the dean and have him expelled, and then he shoved me.
It almost continued to get physical, but i restrained myself because he was not worth going to jail for. My professor took us both to the deans office and called campus police. The young man in question is being banned from the campus for two weeks while the matter is investigated pending expulsion. Me on the other hand, I got free lunch from the dean for standing up for that girl.
The idea that we live in a world where we mock others for their differences, whether it be race, sex, or even a special need is disgusting. The year is 2016, why can we not all just love each other as a species and move on? I understand that Donald Trump is about to become President of the United States, but that does not mean we can all act like others feelings don't matter.
Our world is very sensitive nowadays, particularly in America(I'm not sure how it is in other parts of the world), but we have specific locations on college campuses where bad words can't be used. If this is the direction the country is headed in, we have to be more aware of how people may react to bullying, etc.
I am sorry for the rant, but man this situation infuriated me to no end. People with disabilities, whether it be mental or physical deserve as much love and respect, if not more, than those that don't have any type of disability.

Top man, and glad the school's taking appropriate action.
For all of the hope that it brings...
Re: What grinds your gears?
You did a good thing.
I don't agree, necessarily, with so much sensitivity (like safe places etc.) simply because I believe that there are no safe places and that it doesn't help, but then, what do I know - if it helps anybody, let them have their safe place. But I do agree no one deserves to be bullied, especially for something that they have no control of. I'm glad you stood up for that girl.

Re: What grinds your gears?
I'm not saying I agree with safe zones for words and stuff, I frankly think it's all ridiculous. But it's just heartbreaking that we live in a society where safe zones are a thing and bullying someone of special needs still occurs!
Thanks Andy!

Re: What grinds your gears?
Stubborn was the key word of my rant. I'm "fortunate" that I've never known a man who wasn't stubborn, lol.
Or, in the most recent case:
"Honey, your fellow waiter at that club where you work has been beaten up and the club almost thrashed, maybe it's high time to find a different place to work?"
"Nah I'll stay 'til the New Year"
*wtf*

Well, to be fair, NYE is always a party in those kind of clubs.

Yes, but that wasn't even his point, his point was that he had it "planned" that way for some time and wouldn't budge at all.

Ah right. Nah, that's not men, I would be outta that place by now. That is just stubborness. I know just as many women as I do men who would be that stupidly stubborn, just because they made up their mind already.
For the record, I have a GF.
