Gah, Louis CK now as well. Why do some people you really admire have to turn out to be creeps...

Parking meters.

If you're gonna make me pay to park on the side of the freakin' street, at least make sure all the stupid meters work correctly and show your time when you pay.

It pretty much invalidates the genuineness of the gesture

I always feel like when I get involved with someone, they view me as fragile. That grinds my gears.

Why do you think they view you that way? Why do you think they shouldn't?

Appreciate the question, Dad.

Mainly I think it’s because I’m the kind of guy who is in touch with, and actually acknowledges, his own emotions. Because of this I’m viewed as fragile, sensitive.

I don’t think it is the correct way to view me, though. Just because I acknowledge my emotions doesn’t mean I’m driven by them, or that they control me. Because people have this perception they’re “worried” that anything they do may hurt me. I just don’t want people to worry about me. Live your own life, make your own choices. Will I be negatively affected(?) occasionally by other people’s actions? Sure. But I just can’t stand it when that’s what drives someone’s decisions, or so they claim.

You keep being you.

You're welcome, son.

And for the record, you're doing it right. The way people react to your kindness and honesty and openness will tell you what kind of people you are dealing with, and it will help sort them out for you. Some may not care about your perceived fragility. Some may totally bow to it. Hopefully some will balance the two sides. It's not necessarily bad if someone acts in a protective manner, and it might be nice if more people took others' feelings into consideration more often, but it will also show you who can handle the way you are while still being honest to themselves without fear of thinking they are hurting you. It'll give you a good look into the people you're dealing with, which is always a worthwhile thing.

Peace.

*bump*
I'm emailing places about availability for a reception for work and one lady emails me back saying to ask the quartermaster who she copied on the email. So I reply all thanking her and saying what I'm looking for (for the QM) and the same lady replies back saying "As advised earlier, please contact our Manager..." and THEN she gives me a phone number. If she wanted me to call, why did she give me an email address the first time and the phone number only on the second?! I just called and got a general voicemail so eff this place :lol

How loud running water is.

I just want to wash some dishes and—oh, great—now I can no longer hear the music I had playing in the background.

What's that? I'm three rooms away watching TV and my wife starts doing some dishes? Better turn up the volume!

Come on, water – shut up!

Give them Shea's number.

Are you in Canada or close enough to the border where you're matching with people in Canada?

Emigrate. You get the ladies and your health care covered, too. Win-win.
