Colorado Movie Theater Shooting

Post by Jaded Rescue »

Just wanted to throw my thoughts and prayers out there to anyone involved in this horrible incident. I hope everyone here is doing well. I'm a little freaked out, as I work at an AMC in South Jersey.

This is terrifying. I work at a Cinemark here in Utah. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

Absolutely horrified to hear about this, gbruin works at an ER in Denver and they had 4 fatal patients. Luckily for him he wasnt on call when it happened, I'm sure he'll explain more.. It's just so scary

The idea that people, KIDS also, thought it was part of the show until they heard blood curdling screams and saw bullets fly past their heads is sickening..

Really saddened by such a tragedy in my favourite city in the world.

I'll be honest... I'm working tonight and I hope there won't be any copycat shootings. I know it probably won't happen but you never know. Things like this always make me a little nervous.

They were saying on the news that there would be police in some theaters to prevent copycats.

incredible. society is given so many reasons to be afraid to go places like airports, schools, landmarks, etc. , but for me at least the movie theaters was always a place where i would go to relax without a stress in the world. now when i see anyone that looks suspicious this will always be lingering in my head.

also, this was only like 10 miles away from where the columbine shooting was... so tragic.

That's good. I'm sure my theater's general manager will be talking to all the employees today about the shooting and what to do if events like this ever happen, what measures we should take to keep customers safe.

But seriously, it's when things like this happen that really make me lose faith in people. It's disgusting.

Bro you cant go thinking like that, you'll end up quitting your job or something from fear. It was just one lunatic, it happens every day in places all over the world. Dont let fear control your day to day stuff! You'll be fine, there wont be any copycat's, I'm totally sure it was a one off.. Like most massacres

lol I'm not going to quit my job out of fear of anything. But I think it's legitimate for a Cinemark employee go to work a little cautious the day after a massive shooting happened at another Cinemark theater. A co-worker who I just spoke to a few minutes ago feels the same way, and I can guarantee that my boss will soon talk to each employee about what to do if something like this ever does happen. But don't assume I'm going to get so terrified over this that I'll quit my job.

Also, it looks like this is the largest mass shooting in American history according to this article:

Yikes.

Yeah, may as well have a check on locks and alarms and such - heard something about the killer maybe getting in and out through emergency doors? Which of course should be for escaping instead.

I saw a video clip where a kid was walking out in a Batman costume. It makes me sad that people, especially kids, might not be able to dress up and have fun with a movie premiere because of the few deranged who ruin it for the many. Hoping we don't get to a point of having security screening at movie theaters - already have them at so many events - but then again, better a nuisance than a tragedy. :(
