So it looks like my daughter might be leaving home to attend a hockey academy next fall. I'm excited for her and crushed for me.
Another photobucket casualty... :(

(Code blue guys - Greg’s missing his kid, time to send in Timo to fill the gap)

I’ll let him set the boundaries.

I get the feeling I’m about to enter some kind of relationship with a coworker. Anybody have experience and can comment on discretion and keeping this separate from work?

Just interact with them at work how you normally would with any other coworker/friend. It may sound easier than it actually is but I'm pretty sure that's what two of my coworkers are doing. They're supposed to be an item but you'd never guess it from they way they socialize at work and how they socialize with everyone else. And they don't hang around each other at work all the time either and that helps keep the secrecy I suppose. Plus, depending on how secret you want to be, dont announce it on social media either. Another thing my coworkers haven't really done.

This of course only applies if the 'some kind of relationship' you're referring to happens to be romantic :humina :lol

Do you work in the same department or just the same company? If you're not constantly around each other on the job, it's usually easy enough to keep things separated. But if you're in the same area and you have to work together often on projects and things like that, then it's probably not a bad idea to set up some sort of boundaries to when it is/isn't okay to talk about work related topics. Otherwise you can start to feel like the only thing you really have in common is your job, and you want to avoid that.

Her and I work in separate departments but our departments work closely together. No superiority issues and we do interact a lot. Not always one on one, mainly with others. My biggest worry is one of us slipping up around others and revealing too much.

I always feel when you're dating a colleague you skip a lot of steps, because there's the immediate pressure of it having to work out, because of the awkward and painful aftermath when it doesn't. But to be fair, I've never been so in love with a colleague that I thought the risk was worth it.

Not that I don't believe it can happen.. It worked out for Jim and Pam!

Yeah...it’s not a “love” thing...

Or had a crush big enough.

Love as a noun translated in Dutch is 'liefde', but the verb is something entirely different. Having a crush on somebody is 'verliefd', which is really close to 'liefde'. I feel like we use the word 'love' a lot easier because of that.

Let’s just say it’s not exactly your “Jim and Pam” type of thing. It’s not this girl and I were made for each other. But I think both of us are looking to explore something casual.
