Burnout, moral injury, human rights violations, learned helplessness...whatever. The process is more important than the title.

A look into how corporate medicine in the US is killing my colleagues and me, and, on a tangential degree, every one of you.

^^ reminds me of what we’re hearing about a lot of teachers. I’m not in the medical world so I don’t think about all that very often, but it is so true! How can humans maintain their humanity and the industry-desired numbers when the two are met through conflicting means?
Thanks for always caring about your patients, Greggers!

You make a great point, and I should have expanded this to include teachers. Teachers are absolutely going through the same things - stuff like larger class sizes, insufficient resources, apathetic students, parents who blame teachers and the schools rather than their own children and their own problems, admins focusing on non- educational priorities, and continued marginalization of the educators who are doing increasing work under ever increasing burdens. I think these issues carry over to law enforcement, fire/EMS, the legal profession, and probably a lot of other industries, too.

Thanks for always caring about your students, Summers! Seriously, education is the single most important dynamic in our society. Health, crime, employment, social tolerance, diet, living standards - all improve by getting a good education through childhood, and all suffer when it is lacking. The direction of our society will go according to the quality of the education of population.

So many careers that are being asked to meet certain numbers (finances, test scores, etc.), which means less resources to invest in humanity and morality. The good news is that many realize this, and are working hard to not fall into this trap!

Happy Wednesday y’all.

You know I would love nothing more to say that you are wrong and that I actually do have a girlfriend, but you all know that isn't the case, since I keep stating that I'm probably the only single male guy in the room when going to concerts since I always see plenty of couples and families there.

On a different note, I've been going through Switchfoot's catalog and there's plenty of good stuff there in their 11 albums. There's some not as often-looked good stuff before they made it big with The Beautiful Letdown. Some solid stuff in between The Beautiful Letdown and Hello Hurricane (and I'm going through Hello Hurricane and as a whole, it keeps being a more and more enjoyable album, but I still would rate Vice Verses as my favorite from them, but Hello Hurricane is a solid #2 and maybe Where the Light Shines Through as #3).

Haha Cameron’s gonna be the main event! He’s singing and playing for the rehearsal and probably will for the reception after party too! He’s gonna need to have signed headshots ready to go

Kiddie parties? Sure, but when did clowns performing at weddings become a thing?

Correct, which rules out that option entirely.

SASE on the way, Cam. I'll attach extra postage to pay for all the talent weighing down the envelope.

No I was laid off on Friday so I've got loads of free time now! An extra $15, I'll deliver it candygram style and $20 I'll let you buy me dinner!*

*No fast food. Alcohol must be included. Can't be a home-cooked meal that you "bought all the ingredients for"

I'll get my honking nose and oversize shoes ready!

Deal! I'll even toss in extra for gas money, including the extra gallons for when you get lost twice on the way here (that's an old joke, new people).

Dude, we're you really laid off? That sucks. Big mistake. Your company is out a really good guy.

Oh man it's been while since I've had a lost joke thrown my way! :lol

Yeah, there were some budget cuts and department merges and me and another guy were laid off on Friday. Ironically, I had taken the day off (first day off all year) and my manager had to call me to let me know. I was just walking out of a movie with Summer so I was ok. I've got enough saved up to get me through a few months so if I don't find a job right away I'll be fine. It was getting close to time for me to leave there anyway so this gave me more time to dedicate to a job search! Thanks for the kind words!
