How big of a difference do soundcards make to quality of music from the computer? I have low-end headphones, but heavy music specifically sounds significantly better on my old pc than in my current one. I suspect these new gimmicky HD on-board soundcards are the culprit. The guitars just don't pack that kind of punch that older, raw soundcards were able to preserve

I'm no expert on sound cards but I would assume that sound cards have differences and some are specifically made for a certain type of activity like gaming. Also depends on if you have an internal or external one, my understanding is that external cards generally offer better sound quality. Now I don't know what you mean by "raw" but I don't think that just by picking up the oldest sound card you can find will get you great sounding guitars. Maybe your old pc has a sound card that sounds good to you, music sounds nice in my computer eventhough it's pretty new. Also some modern computers (don't know if all) have settings that you can change depending what you're doing eg. "movie" or "rock". So if you're listening to heavy guitars with your sound being set to "movie" for example, it's probably not going to sound optimal.

I've played around a lot with my soundcard's software but it sounds worse for every effect added.

Well, it's official. My family is going to be moving to Garden Grove in the OC in a few weeks. On the one hand, it sucks to leave the house that I've lived in for 20 years. On the other hand, at least, finding a job there would be easier in terms of driving since there's a lot of accounting job possibilities in the OC than near the Pomona area.

Now for the important part, I looked at the distance between the new place to the Wiltern (the location of the AB show). It's pretty damn far. About 40 miles far and over an hour away. Thankfully, the City National Grove of Anaheim is only 3.4 miles away and AB has played there before I think, so hopefully, they do another leg in the states and play in Anaheim. It's a pretty suitable venue for them. The capacity is 1,700 people, so I hope for the best.

So what are your guys' take on temp agencies? I just had a video interview with an accounting temp agency and I thought it went well. Hopefully, they got something for me in the near future. I'm very flexible and ready to work whenever.

Got my current job through a temp agency and have been here almost two years. Even if it doesn't pan into a permanent position, it's still good to do for your resume. Makes you that much more valuable than your competition.

^^ Cool. That's basically what I wanted out of all of this. Get more experience and have some work experience to put on my resume even if it doesn't lead to a permanent position.

I wish I can go see AB on Sunday, but money's a bit tight, and I don't want to beg my sister to get me tickets. It's fine at 22 as a broke college student. Not so much as a 24-year old recent college graduate that has not landed a job.

That stated, that temp agency called me today with a temp job offer and I will, of course, accept. I'm just waiting for the agency to talk to the company stating that I will accept and waiting for the confirmation email that outlines all the details I need. If I do land it before Sunday, I may get tickets at the last minute.

Awesome Kev! You should beg for the tickets and just go. She's your sister, she'll understand.

I'm not gonna lie. It kind of sucks being in Vegas alone lol. I'm so used to going to shows out of town with others. I miss Greg, zaz, and Alex. :(
