Shadows deserves credit from Waking The Fallen alone imo. He was a monster on that record.

I actually agree with Jim on this one. I hate Shadows.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't put him in a top 10. I think he gets more hate for his tone than anything? Sometimes he sounds whiny when he sings imo. He hasn't been quite the same since he had surgery on his vocal chords. I did love his scream/power mix on Waking The Fallen though. He's actually a pretty good live singer too I think, at least he was when I saw them last year.

Re: Top 10 Best Male Singers of All Time
Yeah I'll be fair to him and admit he wasn't quite as bad before he had the surgery. He's been awful on the last couple of albums though from what I've heard.

You either love his voice or you hate it.
Waking the Fallen is an absolute masterpiece and his vocals are amazing on that record. They're also a lot better on Nightmare than they have been in the past, too.
And Jim, I absolutely cannot stand Adam Lambert but I didn't point that out in response to your list.

Adam Lambert has Myles Kennedy ability though, not many in the business do.

Myles Kennedy - Legend man.
Maynard James Keenan - Great lyrics and an amazing frontman.
Eddie Vedder - This guy has so much emotion in his voice. Really consistent live as well. Such a treat to see him on the acoustic sets of PJ.
Warrel Dane - His vocals might take time to get used to but he's one of the best singers I've heard. His solo album was so damn good and quite different from what he put out with Nevermore.
Steven Wilson - He doesn't have that high a range but damn, his sense of phrasing is really unique and lyric work is quite brilliant as well.
Mikael Akerfeldt - Brilliant vocalist. Very unique. Fits in the progressive genre as a vocalist really well. Great guitar player as well and a really funny frontman. Was lucky enough to meet him once.
Scott Stapp - I love his work Human Clay in particular. There's song strong vocal work there. He was really consistent as well back in the days.
Geddy Lee - Rush, enough said.

You should change this to top 10 rock singers, because that is pretty much all anyone has mentioned.

No. From the OP: Again, best can mean your favorite, most technical, most entertaining, pretty much whatever you want. Just let us know what you think.Vaux wrote:You should change this to top 10 rock singers, because that is pretty much all anyone has mentioned.
If anyone named Luther Vandross or Smokey Robinson or Tony Hadley, etc, they'd get my enormous respect, which is nice. Those singers are absolutely incredible talents, but since they just aren't in most of our favorite genre of music, they don't appear on lists in this sort of forum. But nothing is stopping anyone from including them.
Another photobucket casualty...

Re: Top 10 Best Male Singers of All Time
Originally I had someone outside of rock on my list, but I edited mine after reading this was male singers only lol. And I don't see why it matters who anyone puts in their list anyways.

Re: Top 10 Best Male Singers of All Time
I was just making an observation. All of these lists and one or two guys puts one or two non rock singers. I found it funny.
Re: Top 10 Best Male Singers of All Time
Probably because the majority of people here only listen to rock music...
Re: Top 10 Best Male Singers of All Time
not much rock in my list. guess im in the wrong forum lol
Re: Top 10 Best Male Singers of All Time
Electricladyland had a bunch of non-rock singers on the list; several of us had a few non-rock singers. If it were male and female singers together I'd have more non-rock singers.Vaux wrote:You should change this to top 10 rock singers, because that is pretty much all anyone has mentioned.
