Songs that make you cry
I'd like to divide this into two halves:
A- songs that you have cried to because u identified with them so much (my example: rabbit heart- florence welch, chasing cars. Note- This can be very subjective for the most part)
B- songs where you cried because the singer was just THAT DAMN GOOD. I cant think of too many songs ive heard off the top of my head that would fit into this cateogry but this might be a close one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4y6OE67v6Ns
With B halve, I honestly cant think of too many singers that fall under that category. If anyone could name some tho, I would appreciate that. For halve B, please dont post nonsense. This isnt a joke to me. I know a girl from my old high school where i actually cried when she sang this song once because her voice was just absolutely incredible. I dont hear too many singers like that often.

First time I heard WDTTW I think I teared up.
IIRC, WDTTW was released for like a 48 hour period or something 3 weeks before the album came out? Something like that. And it just had that Blackbird sound to it... It reminded me so much of an epic Blackbird-like song. I teared up because I was like "Wow. AB is back!"
It was even to the point where I was like holy shit dude. You're actually crying over this. Stop.
But I couldn't. I was so uncontrollably happy. WDTTW has that traditional AB sound that they seem to slowly be veering away from. Its also probably the only song from that album I still listen to.

Adele All I Ask - the second verse. The combination of the lyrics and her voice just got to me.
I don't need your honesty
It's already in your eyes
And I'm sure my eyes, they speak for me
No one knows me like you do
And since you're the only one that matters
Tell me who do I run to?

It's already in your eyes
And I'm sure my eyes, they speak for me
No one knows me like you do
And since you're the only one that matters
Tell me who do I run to?

Alter Bridge - Blackbird fits in both A&B for this one.

Periphery - Lune (A & mostly B, seriously, wtf Spencer)
Alter Bridge - In Loving Memory(A&B) and Cry Of Achilles(B) because THAT CHORUS the first time I heard it.
Avenged Sevenfold - Fiction(A, the end of the song gave me major chills and teary eye's because of how eerie it is, considering what it is based around)

A.
Alter Bridge - In loving Memory
Jimmy Eat World - Hear You Me
Anathema - One Last Goodbye
Damien Rice - The Greatest Bastard
Radiohead - How To Disappear Completely / No Surprises
Guns N' Roses - November Rain
Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet (live version)
Tom Waits - Martha
I'm basically a girl.
B. I don't know. When I hear a song for the first time and I am blown away by the artistry or the voice my first reaction is usually not to cry but to laugh. Like when I heard the intro of Calm the Fire for the first time, I was literally laughing out loud from joy when Myles switched to his full voice.

It's really interesting to me how I can't really see how can you cry to some of those songs. I guess we are all different. All great songs tho
For me it has to be live versions of AB - Blackbird and Robbie Williams - Angels

Category A: Pieces by Red, Blackbird, Things Left Unsaid by Disciple
Category B: Reigns Over Me
Category B: Reigns Over Me
Re: Songs that make you cry
Probably the saddest song I've heard anytime recently... this girl's father seems like a piece of shit

Re: Songs that make you cry
The first time I heard AB play Blackbird live I teared up pretty hard. Lost my childhood best friend a while back, and having them play THAT song right in front of me was a release.

Re: Songs that make you cry
Thanks for the posts guys but I'm noticing some of you must have not read my criteria for
section B.
Naughty, naughty! (Starts waving finger).
Honestly tho, with section B and all, it's rare to find a singer whose voice is just that damn good. Tho I think adele and amy lee are nice choices. Maybe even the girl from Flyleaf. All 3 have very powerful voices.
Actually come to think of it, I always remember that the part of Wonderful Life where Myles goes
"its so hard letting go, of the one thing i'll never replace"
always got to me.
But still, it's hard finding singers that make me cry or tear up from the power of their voice alone.
Honestly, one of my favorite piano songs would be Breathe no more by Evansence.

A. Off the top of my head: Watch Over You, Summergirl, Reigns Over Me, maybe Blackbird but that might fit more in the next category... Honestly, Myles is probably the only singer that can make me cry. I've never heard anyone sing with such emotion until I listened to him.

Creed, Away in silence from Full circle I was going through a bitter divorce at the time. Warren Zevon Keep me in your heart, he wrote it on his death bed, and it moved me to tears. Of course In loving memory from live from Amsterdam.
