Any bands out there with lead singers who are a bass?

Post by cheesedip1 »

There are plenty of bands out there with lead singers who are either a tenor or baritone, however...

how many lead singers are bassists (the voice type, not the bass guitar)?

Honestly, I can't think of any. Other than Crash Test Dummies.... and honestly.....
they have a girl who is the co-lead singer.

I feel like basses really aren't that common, except maybe in barbershop and acapella groups.

Note: The guy who sings the original version of the Mr Grinch song, is a bass. He sounds sexy as ****! :rockon

Thoughts? :headbang

Honestly can't think of any.. I can think of a bunch of low baritons who hit some bass notes like Mark Knopfler, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Jim Morrison and the singer of The National, but real basses are really hard to find.

Only one I can think of is Peter Steele of Type O Negative. He's either a Bass or Bass-Baritone.

Some singers can hit some notes that are very low, but they are still baritones (Axel Rose, Mark Collie, Johnny Cash, Chris Cornell), so yea, I guess basses just aren't that common.

I listened to him sing a little bit on YouTube. I feel like he is indeed a bass.

I found a bass singer the other day. I have to admit, I like his voice.

He is country singer Josh Turner.

I like the guy from Turisas, but I think he'd probably range in the baritone area, not quite a true bass.
