Great combo next week - Quensrÿche and Armored Saint. Two all time favorites for me.

That sounds like fun. Did I hear there are two different QR bands? One with the singer and one with the original band?

I'm with you on Metallica. Going to see them AND AB if the snow holds off in January. Also hoping to see a Dokken reunion if it happens in the States next year.

Yes. They went through a really nasty split 5 years ago. The former singer, Geoff Tate, was a grade A dick and the band finally kicked him out, so there was a bunch of the obligatory legal wrangling after. You can read the court testimony on line if you care and Geoff really came out looking ugly. Geoff's new band is called Operation:Mindcrime (which is a stupid name for a band, imo) and retained the exclusive rights to play Mindcrime and Mindcrime II in their entirety. I've heard a few of his latest songs and they sound like the weak mellow stuff he was doing with QR at the end when his voice couldn't handle their classic stuff anymore.

The other 4 guys in the band retained the name Queensrÿche and recruited former Crimson Glory singer/drummer Todd La Torre who sings the hell out of the old QR catalog, stuff Geoff just couldn't do anymore. Todd's voice is perfect for the band. I actually met him once at the Alter Bridge House of Blues concert in Orlando in 2013 that kicked off the Fortress tour, so he's a fan of our boys, too! This will be the third time I've seen QR in 2016 and they are absolutely fantastic. Todd sounds perfect live and the band is as great as ever. There are still a lot of fans who clearly haven't listened and think because Geoff isn't there that it isn't really QR, but it's exactly the opposite. They are more alive and sound better than they did in the last 10 years when Geoff was in the band. Their latest album Condition Human (2015) sounds like Mindcrime/Empire era music and they are heading into the studio in Feb or March. I'll be doing VIP tomorrow - this is the only time I've done a package like that for anyone besides AB/Tremonti.

That was pretty good. And they play ESP/Ltd like me, so I dig them, lol.

So they can't play any O:M material, or just the album in its entirety? I'm guessing the latter. Have fun at the show, man.

Correct. They do play songs off Mindcrime (not Mindcrime II b/c it was really meh) and have 3 or 4 in the setlist now, and they typically close with Eyes Of A Stranger. They just can't play the entire album start to finish, which is no big deal. They have more than enough other old hits and new stuff to do just fine.

Def Leppard are hitting Mizzou just a few days after my birthday. They have Poison and Tesla with then. You know I'll be there.
