Windows 8.1 (File Explorer) Crashing With MOV Files

Post by Jim »

Has anyone else experienced this?? Since Microsoft rolled out some updates in August/September; every time i have large MOV files on my windows explorer it crashes out and goes back to the desktop. Every time.

I either just simply select one (any size from 7MB to 800MB) and it'll collapse completely on me.

I've looked into it ALOT today but still can't manage to find an answer, I did manage to uninstall an apparent update causing the problem, but it didnt help my machine!

Raging, with a shit load of concert videos to offload and Windows wont let me select, view or edit them once they're copied into a folder

Are you sure the files aren't corrupt? Maybe there's something wrong with your camera?

I'd just roll it back to a time it worked. I never update Windows for that exact reason. They fuck it up too regularly.

Concur w/ trying a system restore...that is if it even lets you. Thing seems to have a mind of it's own when or if it will make backups.

What is your default video player?
I'd install VLC and change that to your default. W8.1 works weird with defaults compared to others. It affects functionality in some of the weirdest situations.
