Hi Tom! :wave

I think I'm gonna start watching GoT all over again. From the first ep. I just love Ned. Drogo was nice to look at also and that scene where he spoiler rips out that Dothraki's tongue after he insults Dany is a scene I have to watch at least five times before moving on

I've decided I'm giving up on the books, as much as I enjoy the TV show I just find the books to be so slow in comparison. They're a chore to sit through.

There's references to all these characters in the books and half the time I'm sitting like..."Who the hell is that?" I dunno, maybe I just have too short an attention span.

Yeah reading the book after a half complete TV series is already imprinted in your head seems a little backwards... Not so bad if its for a movie like Harry Potter but there must be so much in the books of GOT that leads onto stuff that hasnt happened on TV yet, it must be such a drag

Give up.

Anyone have information about 6th book? I read (i think) 3 chapters online and that's all I know :yes How many pages/chapters are finished and are there any new theories of Jon's origins, I prefer R+L=J theory :P

I haven't read any chapters online so far. I'm going to read the entire thing in it's entirity (and in Dutch :D) but I believe Martin already had something like 200 pages written but there's stuff in there that were originally written for Dance... And he plans on writing 1500 pages or something like that for the 6th book (that's going to be called 'The Winds of Winter').

How many pages had you read already? Third book is beast. Doesn't compare to anything from the first two books. Besides maybe Ned's beheading..

I agree - in the first book you constantly get confused who is who, the second one is simply slow, but starting from the third it runs like crazy and just sucks you in. It's unbelievable how Martin manages to keep this crazy tempo and never runs out of ideas.
To be honest, I think I'd overlook quite a few things in the series without knowing the book.
But it's a GREAT show nevertheless.
FYI I'm a woman.

Yea, if I should rank the books:

1. A Storm of Swords (both parts)
2. A Game of Thrones
3. A Dance with Dragon (both parts, but the 2nd part was the best)
4. A Clash of Kings
5. A Feast for Crows. That's what you get for putting all the shitty characters in one book.. :lol

I watched about half of the first episode a while back and just couldn't get into it... just downloaded the full first season last night though, going to give it another try here soon.

I've heard people say it's slow moving in the beginning, too. I figure if you can get through the first two episodes you should be able to know whether you'll get into it or not.
