Saw Tenet tonight.....Brilliant movie, horrible sound design
The sfx and music overpower and drown out the crucial dialogue moments far too often..But thats my only gripe with it. Otherwise, RPat and Washington did fantastic and the plot was very ambitious! It made Inception seem linear
Will probably rent it or buy it again once it comes to VOD
His movies are always a bombastic experience in 15/70mm IMAX, sound-wise. It kind of just engulfs you, even if you miss 20% of the dialogue. It always seems to improve when you get the Blu-ray and watch it on your home theater. Much clearer at that point, which is good.
Anyway, the first time I saw Tenet, I don't know what hit me. It's the only movie that I was happy to give me a headache. I've never been so perplexed about what I saw on screen before and tried to cope with the ideas in place, because as incomprehensible as it seemed somewhere deep inside I knew that it all made sense. After absorbing it for a week and thinking about it over and over, I gave it a second watch... and went from understanding about 40% of it to understanding like 95% of it.
Great movie, but not for everybody. If you tell somebody that its accessibility comes in the form of seeing a 2.5 hour movie twice
, they won't bother giving it the time of day.
