Just visited the ballroom in Union Station in STL. Filming location of the big fight scene of one of my favorite movies, Escape From New York.
One Nation. Indivisible.

So it's basically comfort food for liberals? Need that after this year, will check it out.evyllsummer wrote:Been digging on Charlie Wilson's War lately. Because it's written by Sorkin, it's the kind of film I can repeat watch (much like I do with seasons 2-4 of West Wing). Plus, my son has a project for his AP Govt class where he has to watch it, so I'll be watching it again this weekend.
Anywho, bottom line is: if you dig Sorkin and you haven't seen it, you should check it out.
Hope you've got Once Upon a Time in the West queued up! One of my faves. Apparently an early idea for the opening scene was to have Eastwood, Van Cleef and Wallach as the three that meet him at the station. Would have been just about the greatest thing ever. One Drew Remains wrote:Been on a Charles Bronson kick lately. Watched all of the Death Wish films. I just finished Mr. Majestic. And I got Murphys Law from Amazon today. Good times.
I also enjoyed this film quite a bit. Been a fan of Donnie Yen since Hero, so, yeah, this film was a lot of fun.gbruin wrote:I just discovered a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon with the same name plus the tag: Sword of Destiny.
Crouching Tiger is one of my favorite movies. It's visually stunning with great effects and Ang Lee did an incredible job on it. The emotion and characters and story are just beautiful.
The sequel was a Netflix original production that was released only in theaters only in China so I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but found it enjoyable. It's set 17 years after the first and bears a lot of resemblance to Lord of the Rings, with the Green Destiny having a similar role to the One Ring. If you liked the original, this is worth a view.
And if you've never seen the original, put it on your short list of movies to see.
Loved Hero. There was quite a run with Crouching Tiger, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, The Warrior. Those were some beautifully epic movies.evyllsummer wrote:I also enjoyed this film quite a bit. Oh good, about to go see it in half an hour. I read one mixed review and that was it, glad to hear you like it!One Drew Remains wrote:Just saw Passengers. It was really good. My Wife says it's her favorite movie ever. I told her to let it sink in for a few days, lol.
It was good! Some flaws with space physics I noticed (hair not flying around in space suit for Aurora even though it's not tied back) and I thought the ending was a little abrupt, but overall very good! One Drew Remains wrote:Let me know what you thought.
