Going in Style= alright

Get Out- pretty good. I should have avoided the trailer before watching tho.

Fist Fight, The Mummy- did not watch, it didnt look that good to me

Circle- low budget indie movie. Fun to watch

Baywatch- eh it was okay i guess

Pirates 5- better than the 4th pirates, not as good as the first 3. It was okay but it definetiely had some flaws.

Anyone else excited for the Dark Tower movie next weekend? I'm excited, yet reserved.

I've only read the first two books so I'm gonna hold out on that one for a while. I think it looks pretty interesting, just trying to stay away from spoilers.

Me too. You should really read books 3&4 though. The Wastelands is incredible. It's half the journey.

And W&G is one of the best back stories I have ever read. Possibly the coolest gun fight in the whole series as well.

I've been meaning to. Have those books sitting on my shelf. Pretty sure I'll dive into The Wastelands once I finish the book I'm currently working on.

After everyone talked up The Dark Tower, I guess I was expecting something a bit different than gunslingers shooting with their heart. Trailer really has me like "how was this popular?"

It wasn't super popular, I guess you'd say. And I don't know if the masses will accept it. But the books are the perfect blend of Western, sci-fi, fantasy, and at times, comedy and horror. It's an odd mix, but SK made it work.

RIP Sam Shepard, was in two of my favourite films (The Right Stuff and Days of Heaven), and wrote another in Paris, Texas. An under the radar guy but so, so talented.

Just saw a 70mm screening of Dunkirk last night. Sadly missed the first 5 minutes (I seriously can't stand missing any part of a movie on the first viewing) but overall it was quite the experience. The general reviews I've seen seem to be spot on, in that there's not a huge focus on character, but it all works. Hans Zimmer's score isn't very melodic at all, but creates the mood perfectly in my opinion. And that's coming from a bit of a critic of his past work.

I'm still coming down from the hype of seeing it, but I think it was one of the best films I've seen in years.

Just watched "Nocturnal Animals" featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams. Absolutely captivating, yet disturbing film. Acting was top notch.

Finally got around to A Clockwork Orange, weird film and I think the intervening period has dulled its impact somewhat, the violence and sex now looking pretty tame compared to even mainstream TV. Kubrick usually leaves me a little cold but his ability for visuals is always hard to argue against.

That's a good analysis, Droog.

Also had a rewatch of the Thing last week, even better when you can just sit back and enjoy the atmosphere without wondering what's going to happen. Ever seen the commentary for it? Pretty sure Carpenter and Russell are getting steadily drunk throughout :lol

Yeah. I love their commentaries. It's like two friends having beers and making fun of themselves. The ones for EFNY and BTiLC are good too.

Man, the new Blade Runner is getting great reviews. I hadn't dared to hope it would match up.

Same, not taking any chances though - booked to see it at the largest screen in the country :lol Still regret not doing that for Fury Road.

We might have to do a podcast on the original vs 2049.
