Are HOB venues generally too small for a "circle" pit?

Kind of, and security is generally pretty strict. They don't like to see anything get even remotely out of hand.

And Ghost of Days Gone By doesn't lend itself to moshing.
Myles commented the crowd seemed to be drinking more "happy juice" at the show tonight.

They added Bleed it Dry and did Slip to the Void, but otherwise the songs were the same, including Fortress. BTC was on the set list but they cut it... again.

Timo's gonna flip...
Slip to the Void
Addicted to Pain
Come to Life
Bleed It Dry
Cry of Achilles
Brand New Start
Ghost of Days Gone By
Fortress
Ties That Bind
Waters Rising
Isolation
Broken Wings
Metalingus
Blackbird
Open Your Eyes
Encore:
Before Tomorrow Comes
Dueling Guitar Solos – Mark and Myles
Rise Today
Two things: Don't know why they'd put BTC in the encore (even though they didn't play it), that's a good spot for Fortress. Secondly, gotta put some Fortress stuff in the second half of the set, make some new classics.

Other than those two minor thoughts, I think this is a pretty damn good setlist.

The only thing I dislike about that setlist is the encore, and the fact that they need more Fortress songs in the set, but with Fortress and Bleed It Dry it's probably one of the best setlists they've done.

I'm watching the Fortress video from the other show, and considering Fortress is my favourite AB song it disappoints me to say this, it sounds a bit flat. The verse sounds empty, the chorus also sounds empty as the 'Fortress coming down' bit aren't very loud, and the first bridge falls a bit flat without Mark harmonizing. Although I've watched the video from the first time they played it and it sounded awesome.

I'll have to agree about Fortress, although I love that song to death. Judging by the crowd response it might not be the best live song. Not sure about BID, cause I didn't see any footage. I do love that song (almost) as much as Fortress, although I noticed that here not everyone agrees with me on that... ;)

I love that setlist. Could use a little tweaking but its a step in the right direction.

Great to see Bleed It Dry in there.. Also great to see they decided not to play Before Tomorrow Comes :D

Bullhonkey. The performance in Lisbon will say differently. Then again, that crowd was hot for everything the band was doing.

I don't think you can judge a song by the crowd response.. Fortress is not really a "put your hands in the air and jump around" song.. It's more of a "listen and be amazed" song.

That's true. Maybe the recording just didn't have as much impact as the album version does. Some parts just aren't as 'full' as on the album. To check if it wasn't just me, I looked at the crowd response.
But the only way to feel if that song works live, is to see it live. So here's to hoping I ever will! :D Same goes for BID, amazing song.

Here's a video of Bleed it Dry. It starts halfway the second verse and goes on till the end.

It's such a great live song.. Should be played a lot more often! This performance was so much more tight than the one in Brussels! Myles seems to be having some difficulties with the chords in the bridge though..

That's a pretty great live song, the bridge is something special.

I'm really hoping BTC becomes that homework that you tell yourself you'll do that day, or the next day, or the day after that, but just do something else instead.

Nice! I love the part where Mark sings backing vocals on the last chorus...where he trades off with Myles.

Fortress from the second concert. Much better performance than the one from the first gig IMO.

I just realized how awesome a good music video for Fortress would be.

Yea, that was a lot better.. Myles didn't skip the outro this time and did some falsettos he didn't do last night.. The vocals in the bridge sounded better too, but that might've been because you could hear the crowd singing along from this position.
