Re: New Slash/MK Album On The Way

The Lyrics to call of the Wild actually annoy me. If you are going to write a song about how technology is killing the music business, don't record an album using electric guitars and mix it in Pro Tools, go do it in Gregorian chants recorded on papyrus. I quite like The Great Pretender. There were ...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

My DVD/BR/CDs arrived today, and the audio in stereo on the DVD is a fair bit better than the Spotify upload. A hell of a lot more Brian for a start, the Orchestra still not as high as I'd like, but the woodwind/brass/percussion was actually audible instead of just the strings. It was awesome to rel...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

I'm more upset with Mark's lack of clean tone. It literally makes songs with those classic Tremonti cleans sound bad when he tries to just roll his gain channel back. That's something that is easily fixed, just use the clean channel on your amp. It often isn't. Both the Bogner Uberschall and the PR...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Contrary to my previous post, my Vinyl copy came today. I know I need a new needle and I wasn't using the ideal speakers, but Mark seems a lot higher in the mix, and the orchestra even lower. This is very much to the detriment of the album. The only time I really heard them was in In Loving Memory, ...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Since I don't have a way of playing the physical media, I'm condemned to listening to just the music on iTunes. But I'll have to say I'm enjoying it more than I would've thought haha! Maybe the orchestra could be more prominent at some places (but overall I like it) and I've said enough about Marks...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Myles' guitar is way too high in the mix relative to everything else. :( It's probably because they've had to compensate for Tremonti's awful tone, especially on the clean bits of songs like Words. I do think the Orchestra could do with turning up slightly from the three tracks I've heard thusfar. ...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Just received an email from the official Alter Bridge store, they've had a stock delay from the manufacturer and won't be able to ship my order of the DVD/CDs for an anticipated seven days. They did mention it was beyond their control, but I'm not happy in the slightest. Yeah, I got the same thing....

Re: AB VI Speculation

2) Less production: TLH was extremely overproduced, my head is aching when I listen to songs from it. 3-5 layers of Myles'es vocals was unnecessary, Mark's voice for backing vocals is perfect. Wall of sound approach must peacefully die and rest in piece, there needs to be some room to breathe. I wo...

Definitely my favourite released thusfar. I remember that Crescendo being one of the highlights live too, it was INSANE.

Re: AB VI Speculation

I want much more of Mark vocally. The band is now blessed with two badass frontmen and two badass lead guitarists. Capitalise - more trading of both vocals and guitar licks. I want some epic ‘Sound Of Silence’ shit but the Alter Bridge version. Dunno how I would feel about this. My problem with Tre...

I'd love to hear them do a real Studio verson, with Draimon doing the Garfunkel Melody rather than both of them doing the Simon melody.

I was going to call out Boulevard of Broken Hearts for that. It was naff when Green Day did it, now it's corny and unoriginal.

Re: Why does AB ignore much of ODR in its live set?

I think they're just a very different band to what they were then, those songs don't necessarily speak for them any more. Also, to be brutally honest, I don't think they can really pull those songs off any more. Myles vocal character has changed so much, and Mark's current guitar sound and his incre...

Re: Mark's sound in live recordings

It's a big problem, and by the fact they've nearly cut him out of RAH stuff other than solos makes me hope they've noticed. Ironically, It was when they both stepped away from Mesa Boogie in an attempt to sound less like each other that it started to sound worse.

Re: AB VI Speculation

My wishlist is a little different to some of you guys, so after years of on-again off-again browsing I finally bit the bullet and joined to discuss. Firstly, Quality over quantity. I'd much rather a 50 minute album that is consistently great than something longer that's hit and miss. One of my bigge...
