Re: Original In Progress

Diggin the tune and the groove. I would agree that it has too much low end. When the bass gets pumping it kind of sucks the momentum out of the tune...too boomy. Re: How to de-stink a microphone?

Most shure mics allow you to unscrew the windscreen cap...you can do that and wash it separately. If you're gonna use it for recording and not really use it live...you can just scrape the windscreen out and use a pop filter when recording.

Re: Pedals Thread

As far as finding pedals with enough gain to make up for a turd of an amp...wampler. Go check em out.

I have a pretty basic setup I use right now:

Tubescreamer
DOD 250
Dynacomp
Crybaby

What I -want-...really badly want is an empress vintage modified supredelay.

I dont think it has had any effect...I constantly have to mute commercials. They have a greater impact on the ears than most music today lol.

All good points. I think you also have to consider that there is not any magical formula to making it happen, and different paths work for different people. Good luck on your journey!

Re: Other Instruments

Set up a kick pedal facing the cajon and stomp your foot while jamming. Done. Also, has anyone used one of those stomp board, well, boards? I've built a few and love them. I also went to a concert that had no bass drum, they just stomped on one of those things and the bass was immense!

Re: Sounding creative within a certain style...

I read somewhere that to become a fantastic songwriter, you're supposed to do exactly what you just said. Write a "song" everyday. Obviously try to make the melody and structure unique every time. It could be about cats, politics or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich...you'll be surprised ...

Re: Sounding creative within a certain style...

Learn other styles of music. Over the years I have gone through phases of everything in between jazz and children of bodom style music...you pick up things in a country song you won't pick up in a classic rock song. Just learn everything you can get your hands on.
