Re: Gojira

I bought myself and my brother tickets to see these guys back in 2012. I hadn't heard any of their songs and I didn't think they were my type of music, but it was my brother's birthday coming up and I knew he liked them. He pulled out of the gig at last minute, I tried selling the tickets but couldn...

Re: DUST - The Second Part

But as an example of what I was referring to at the time; I would argue that to me a song like "Immortalized" off of Disturbed's same-titled album, sounds the same production-wise as "My Last Mistake". Yet they are both produced by different people. Now, there are obviously song...

Re: AB V

Maybe they didn't have the money lying around? It's possible that they're really hardcore fans that just really wanted the opportunity and were willing to save.

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread

No worries Jim (not going to quote you as it'll be rather long), apologies if I appeared a bit defensive, I guess it's another example of where tone of voice is difficult to convey over the Internet. Despite my issues with the production, the songs are good nonetheless so I'm able to enjoy them. I'm...

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread

This album is a big step back in the right back for these guys, for sure. It doesn't quite have the magic of FOLKLORE, but that's just a qualitative thing. For the first time in a long time, they actually sound like themselves. I'm still trying to digest the album, although my feelings are very sim...

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread

They will never fully win me back until they release this masterpiece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xsd7C3dMvEY It was one of the songs they had for the 3rd record, before the external writers came in and, well you know... I'd love to hear the rest of the demos they had lying around back then to...

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread

I kind of agree with your third post, although, despite their third album was more radio friendly and concise, it still had some of that Black Stone Cherry flair.

They've got another new song out which is a step in the right direction.

Re: DUST - The Second Part

I like the song, I think I'm going to like Dust an awful lot more than Cauterize. I really like how the verse wasn't focused on a melody and it sounded a lot like a thrash song, I was disappointed to have the catchy melodic chorus and I wish Tremonti would change up his songwriting a bit in that re...

Re: DUST - The Second Part

I wasn't expecting to like the song as Tremonti's solo work doesn't really do anything for me, but I actually liked it. I liked that it wasn't trying to be a metal song. Although, does anyone think the production is really shitty? I listened to the Youtube version, hopefully it's just Youtube making...

Re: 'Watch Over You' on UK Television.. The Voice

I knew from the title alone that it would utter shit, but my god, that was a fucking car crash.

I'm assuming those older people were that guy's parents? They should be ashamed. Scott Stapp could do a better job than he did.

I prefer this version of the song. I think Myles's voice suits the song better here.

Re: Favorite Flip drum parts

He's really locked in with the band on The Uninvited. His fills on The End Is Here really help the song reach its height. A lot of AB's songs have very similar drum beats and are at similar tempos, but then the 'epics' certainly demonstrate that Flip can navigate the band through a more complex arra...

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread

I'm a bit on the fence when it comes to Black Stone Cherry at the moment, I remember when they released their last album they did a couple of interviews where they said it was a return to their roots, and strangely, they've been saying this new album is a return to their roots, although from what I'...

Re: The Official DREAM THEATER Thread

I used to really love Dream Theater, I bought all of their albums and they were my favourite band for about a year. I remember being gutted when Mike Portnoy left. Although one day I was listening to them, and I think it was during one of their long 'instrumental wankery' sessions that I just though...

Re: Own a Piece of Rock History (AB V)

These packages are cool but at the same time they're trying to sell: merchandise that hasn't been designed yet; framed artwork that hasn't been designed yet; and access to soundchecks for dates that haven't been announced yet. It all seems incredibly premature. If any other business tried pulling th...

Re: The Pineapple Thief

I recently got into these guys a year ago and I went through a phase of listening to them every day whilst revising for my exams, as a result of that I've now gotten a bit bored of them, but they're a great band. I'm also from the same county as all of them, which is somewhat cool. Preparation for t...
