I was surprised it didn't make it to the rarities disk of the Live at the O2 release, to be honest. They managed to get the unreleased tracks from One Day Remains, can't have been hard to stick it on the CD.

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I am really enjoying it. I agree that the chorus is the least interesting part of it, but it's not bad. Maybe fit a syllable or two instead of dragging out the "heart", but otherwise it's perfectly servicable. Everything else kicks ass. Mix wise, I think the snare is a bit too loud and it'...

Re: It's not physics

Math: £52/ticket x 15,000 tickets/London (at least) O2 show = why AB tours in Europe more than the US You also need a bigger rig and more crew for arena shows. I know AB have a B rig for their flyaway shows, I don't know if they have to fly it over or if it stays in storage in Europe, but even if i...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I'm going to pop hard for some tasteful moog, I love that stuff. I really like the textural background synth of bands like Toska, where guitars/bass/drums are still at the forefront but a bit of synth adds depth and character. If it's that kind of direction I'm extremely excited. I don't know how I'...

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

I don't think they are synonymous though. For example, I think Fortress is objectively their best album, but Blackbird is probably my favorite simply because of what it means to me and because of what I was going through at the time. Same applies with "least favorite" and "worst"...

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

Fortress is their best IMO, It's the most consistent, and every song stands on it's own while also coming together to fit well as an album. It's the one I enjoy listening front to the most front to back. The Last Hero is my least favourite. I won't say worst as I think there are some great songs on ...

wouldn't it be great if one of them is a secret George Harrison to MT/MK's Lennon/McCartney?

Let's just hope the other isn't Ringo.

Re: Alter Bridge - AB III VINYL [GOLD]

Well hell, they could have put this out a week earlier and release it for Record Store Day! While it's cool for the hipster-factor, is there really much of a sonic advantage to an AB album on vinyl? (Full disclosure: I own Blackbird on vinyl, mostly cause it feels cool.) If the album was recorded d...

Re: The Official MAYFIELD FOUR Thread

I get the feeling that it's a maturity thing. When I listen to ODR now I notice how hard Myles is trying. Every song has either a massively powerful high note or some vocal flourish to show he can hang. Now I feel he saves it for when it matters and really ads to the song. I guess he has less to pr...

Re: More Mark Lead Vocals, or just more harmonies?

I'm a "Myles does all the lead" guy in my heart, but I'm willing to sacrifice a track or two to Mark if it means we get more of Myles on guitar. In terms of them harmonising with themselves, I don't want them to have to water down their vision in the studio just so it works live. Look at F...

Re: Why does AB ignore much of ODR in its live set?

Honestly I think with this new album we may see some more ODR back into the set. Since not i don't see too much of TLH sticking around in the set maybe a song or two. Plus them adding in deep cuts like In Loving Memory, The End is Here and Shed My Skin on the last few legs of TLH tour is promising....

Re: AB VI Speculation

I hope they stick to current events. But in their normal way, I hope they don't use proper nouns. Find a way to make meaningful, thought provoking lyrics without using names or parties. For instance, I actually thought the THEME of TLH was great. I just didn't like a lot of the musical content in g...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Did anyone finalize a better mix made from the DVD, or maybe just a couple of songs, I'm really interested what a better mix could sound like Ps. does anyone know if the Vinyl sounds different (better ?) From my experience the Vinyl is possibly a little worse, in that there's less orchestra. That s...

Re: Why does AB ignore much of ODR in its live set?

In all honesty I doubt TLH will be represented too much in future tours which might help songs from ODR to resurface in the setlist. I agree, other than the first single on Last Hero, I dont think any of the other songs will be played live too much. Which would actually be a bit of a shame. Songs l...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

I think I'm beginning to prefer Myles' new vocal melody for Brand New Start ("Cast your sorrows to the wind") more than the Blackbird version. I can't say why, it's just been in my head all day.

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

I don't have a high end sound system, but the bluray gives you the option to play in stereo or 5.1 surround, so I choose stereo. It sounds amazing, and I loved every minute of it. Mark's guitar is lower in the mix than I think it should be though, although on certain songs it's bang on. I've never ...

Re: New Slash/MK Album On The Way

The Lyrics to call of the Wild actually annoy me. If you are going to write a song about how technology is killing the music business, don't record an album using electric guitars and mix it in Pro Tools, go do it in Gregorian chants recorded on papyrus. I quite like The Great Pretender. There were...
