Re: Your Acoustic Covers Repertoire
Okay, I was fiddling around with playing Jimmy Eat World - Kill and got what I think is a pretty decent cover. I tried it up close to the mic (not in good camera view so I didn't shoot it) and liked it enough that when I went farther away to try and video record, not only did I not like the sound as...

Re: Forever Falling: AB's best work since Blackbird title track?
Nope, Muffin. I strongly, strongly disagree. Crows is heavy and that's it. Isolation is heavy, groovy and has a lot of melody. These songs are really, really different. I didn't see this post until now. I thought I'd at least whip up this tease. https://drive.google.com/file/d/19OXmd1ZBi_P7Adsqnx_f...

Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 01
Slip to The Void. Cry Of Achilles has grown on me but I never got the full hype behind it It's really good but many AB fans seem biased towards the band's so-called "epics." They go apeshit over anything longer than 6 minutes. Show Me a Sign and Burn It Down hold no such place in my heart...

Re: What happened to the riffs?
I mean, I just think it's hard to keep coming up with iconic riffs for this long in their career, especially with all the other projects getting tons of riffs getting written for them. Sometimes simpler riffs are way more memorable too. Enter Sandman is a huge riff and it’s stupid easy to play on g...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.
What do you play these on? Receiver, speakers, sub, the whole nine.
What is your system calibrated to? Is it flat? House curve? Attuned for music with lowered mids? Do you have a calibration file that you can share, by chance?
Thanks.

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread
Anyway, I don't know what they do in the chorus of Indoctrination note-wise going from "deny it" to "the fire," but it sounds good on "deny it" and I wish they stuck to those notes, instead of like adding a 7th or going to F# instead of F, or whatever the hell it is tha...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread
I've got to be honest, I think releasing so many songs before the record came out has really affected my listening experience. After a weekend I put the record away for a few days, came back, and was like "it's alright." There are some good songs here. But upon hearing over a third of the...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.
I still feel like we're missing an important variable here. Elvis and Jef were the main hands behind A Dying Machine and Year of the Tiger, and neither of those albums (nor pretty much anything else they touch) have the "issues" that The Last Hero and, now, Walk The Sky have seen. I don't...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.
I heard murmurs of an ODR sequel possibly happening someday, perhaps even to bookend the band's career under the spotlight before going into some hiatus. Should that happen, I hope they bring back Ben Grosse for that.

Re: Forever Falling: AB's best work since Blackbird title track?
Well, that's why I'm wondering why Wouldn't You Rather isn't getting more acclaim from people. I thing it's one of those tracks like Metalingus, Isolation, Addicted to Pain, and you can add Crows on a Wire to that list as well. Again, I'm surprised that WYR isn't "more liked." All four of...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread
Yup, me too. It slowly crawled up. It was never bad, but it's a song I really look forward to hearing when it plays. I think it would've been just fine had Myles not harmonized over himself. When he goes up on "clear horizon" in harmony in that chorus, it changes up what I'm feeling they s...

Re: What are you listening to right now?
Listening to the newest Goo Goo Dolls album, Miracle Pill. I saw a sponsored ad video for their latest single on Facebook a while back, and was saddened and surprised at how much negative feedback it was getting. That crossed my mind tonight, so I went to Google Play to give the album a little list...

Re: 5 favorite movies
This is way too hard for me to do. There are too many movies which I could state as being technically superior or even perfect, but it might not fall anywhere near movies that I enjoy to the point of even owning (like La La Land, as of recent). On the other hand, there are some guilty pleasures of m...

Re: Your Acoustic Covers Repertoire
Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) Do you play using the song's authentic tuning (BDDDDD)? If so, man, I'd hate to switch back and forth with that all of the time and eventually snap my strings or what have you. I did it once, but can't seem to find a good balance between me playing it and me singing it. The onl...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread
4. Godspeed This song gave me goosebumps. I want this song to give me goosebumps, but for some reason it doesn't when listening to it! Like, in retrospect I hear the song in my head with Myles' opening lines and that chorus, and it can give me goosebumps thinking about the idea of the song... but t...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread
Holy shnikes! I put AB on shuffle and started with One Life... Clear Horizon came on next and it was so smooth! Right?! I quite like it at 2, Wouldn't You Rather at 3 and In the Deep at 11... Okay, this is going to be a weird post so feel free to skip lol. I care about song order more than anyone s...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread
Just a couple thoughts about a couple of songs, simply because. In the Deep What a weird song. Every time the opening riff starts, I swear I feel like I'm playing Sonic the Hedgehog. Then there is a chorus where the melody doesn't match what the guitar is playing, and I don't the chorus matches the ...

Re: Forever Falling: AB's best work since Blackbird title track?
Crows on a Wire also suffers from being probably the biggest example of self-plagiarism in the AB catalog: a rewritten Isolation with Come to Life's chorus. Particularly notable when you listen to all three of them in the same set. It absolutely sounds like Isolation, that's why I tied it in with i...
