Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
@FutureShredder, I totally remember meeting you like 5 years ago at X Fest in Indianapolis! Glad to see I don't sound silly for my vote, it just seemed to make the most sense. Also, something you all might want to know, going by "polls" for who's in the lead is actually pretty inaccurate....

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
With Benny's example, he's in Indiana which is certain to go for Romney, so whoever he votes for is sort of redundant in choosing who gets the Presidency, and as he says if a third party gets a certain amount of the vote they'll qualify for funding next time round, giving them a better chance. I don...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
If it's a tie in the electoral college then the House of Representatives choose the President and the Senate chooses the Vice President, so it'd be a Romney/Biden White House which would be entertaining if scary. Very unlikely though. If it's a tie in the popular vote (within 0.5% either way) then O...

Re: The 4th Album
But then if they made 10 immense songs and five meh ones, even with a limit you'd end up with something that could've been better. Go with the 10! I agree with you that they won't do it though. And I can see where they're coming from, that if you don't like it as much you can skip it (I used to thin...

Re: The 4th Album
I don't think they need to stick an arbitrary limit of however many songs on it, there are plenty of great albums that fly by in a breeze even with 16+ tracks - they just need to be more prepared to drop weaker songs that disrupt the flow of the album. Put them to one side and stick them on the inev...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
Yup that's my thinking too, they're possibly going to lose the Hispanic vote by 40-50 points this time round, and unless they change that around by 2016 then Arizona might be in play as well. This is the last year that you can be a party mainly for older white men and still have a chance of being el...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
That would be hell for the Dems
Christie would at least be a return to the old moderate Republican party (as long as he doesn't get Romneyfied), but I have a feeling they'll go with Rubio. Assuming Obama wins on Tuesday, of course (I'm being careful not to tempt fate at the moment).

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
I did that a few weeks back and was somewhere between Obama and Stein as well. Got about 4% for Romney. I notice you're in Iowa, TB, so I hope you'll side with pragmatism in the end, cause every vote there counts! :D It is frustrating sometimes to have to decide between the lesser of two evils (we h...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
Romney's basically relying on all the polls in Ohio being wrong. It's possible, but unlikely. Pollsters do occasionally have a bias in their polls, either wittingly or otherwise, but when you average them together it tends to all cancel out, and Obama's leading by 2-3 points there on that basis. Or ...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
The thing about the "big government" critique from conservatives is that, if they're voting Republican, they're still voting for big government. The government just gives the money to different people, and intrudes into different lives. I have a certain amount of intellectual respect for R...

In a shock move, writer and director Joss Whedon has endorsed Mitt Romney. He filmed the following video to explain his choice.

They must have screwed something up during the recording of this, because it's way too good not to have got on the album.
Also really looking forward to Wolfie being a official member of the band on the next one!

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
And Obama isn't even proposing defence cuts, those come from Congress' inability to reach a deal, he's just saying he won't add to the already vast budget. Which seems a fair enough strategy, given the state of the finances and that it had been hugely inflated already by Bush. Not to mention that on...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
It can't be described as an "apology tour" if apologies were never offered, that seems fairly clear. Certainly seems sparse material to base a book on. And yeah it's a conservative talking point, not taken seriously by anyone else.

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
Ah, the good ol' "Apology Tour". No matter how many times it gets fact-checked as "pants on fire" or "four Pinocchios", Romney carries on using it. I kind of admire that, just sheer belligerence in trying to make it correct. Another Obama win, probably won't make any di...

Re: The 2012 U.S. Presidential Election
Multi-party systems aren't that great either, you just attack two other parties instead of one, but focus more on the one that has a chance of stopping you getting a majority. Doesn't really change the make-up of the views on offer, they're all scrabbling around for the centre of undecideds in the e...
