Re: The Last Hero - AB Nation Discussion
Sam1oq I agree with pretty much everything you've said in your review (although I'd be a bit more critical of Twilight). The Last Hero is a difficult album for me to like, as an album I don't think it works. There's too much average material on the album, it doesn't sound particularly inspired and I...

Re: Creed show??
It's some kind of electronic show with 'MC Creed', I recall this happening a few times in the past. I think it's an error with Bandsintown, it recognises the Creed name and then gets posted to the Creed Facebook page (perhaps automatically). It certainly isn't a Creed or Scott Stapp show, Google the...

Re: Your Top 10 Albums of 2016?
I've listened to a fair few albums this year, although it's still hard to do a top 10 as some of those albums have had very little staying power, even albums from my favourite bands such as Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry. I wouldn't want to call them bad or forgettable bands but I'm just not mo...

Re: Gojira
That recorded live show with Alter Bridge is really excellent. They're a strange band to be touring with Alter Bridge that's for sure, I know that Mark and Myles are huge fans but the crowd don't appear to be responding to them too well. Saying that, I'm glad they didn't shy away from playing songs ...

Re: John Wesley (Porcupine Tree) - Free Music
I was literally just about to bump this thread, so I'm glad that other people are keeping an eye out for his music. I'm only on the second song of my first listen so far but I agree with you Dolo, I wish more bands would focus on songwriting. I'm currently listening to it on the vinyl and it sounds ...

Re: The Last Hero - AB Nation Discussion
I’ve just finished my third play through and have simultaneously done a track-by-track review for anyone that cares. I’m rather hungover so it’s probably not my best bit of writing. Show Me A Leader – It’s a good song and a good start to the album. There’s a nice groove in the verses. I’m not too ke...

Re: The Last Hero - AB Nation Discussion
I've just listened to the album for the first time and have some very brief thoughts. I know it's a very premature opinion, but I think it's cool to document your initial thoughts to look back in the future. When I listen to a new album, I want to be surprised, I don't want to be able to predict whe...

Re: The Pineapple Thief
I'm still trying to digest it as I think there's a lot to soak in with this album, although I've listened to it twice I think it's great. Gavin Harrison is my favourite drummer and he really has elevated The Pineapple Thief (much like what he did with Porcupine Tree). The album sounds absolutely sup...

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread
On first listen I think the song just sounds really messy and I agree that the guitars sound buried under a wall of bass. The 'ooohs' remind me of Halestorm, which I don't consider to be a good thing. I have no doubt that the song will grow on me, especially once I've heard the full version, but the...

Re: Gojira
I'm always a bit sceptical of screaming/growling vocals so in someways I understand where you're coming from, but I also disagree. Gojira's music is largely about the deterioration of the environment, I think Joe's vocal styles demonstrates passion for the issues he's singing about and massively con...

Re: ABV named "The Last Hero"
Yea, when writing they should never have to worry about the fans they might lose. Honestly, artists who care more about their own art than anything else really shouldn't. I think Steven Wilson is another example of an artist caring about their art more than what fans want. Each album has a change o...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread
I really don't want to sound like a dick but why is he always playing the same damn songs? The answer is simple - they're his most popular songs, they're the songs that a wide audience wants to hear. Nobody cares about his solo material. I'm not sure nowadays that Stapp even wants to have a decent ...

Re: ABV named "The Last Hero"
Surprised to hear about the lack of ballads, but I'm not particularly disappointed. I know some of the reviews criticised Fortress for being monotonous so I hope the album as a whole isn't monotonous.

Do we really have to post any spoilers in black? Anybody who clicks on the last few pages of a thread titled 'The Games of Thrones Thread.' having not caught up with the series of Game of Thrones is an idiot.

Re: ABV tour date(s).
I'm really excited to hear that Gojira are touring with Alter Bridge. When I saw AB last I told myself I wouldn't see them again, but I certainly can't refuse this one. I'm not sure how Gojira will go down with the overall AB fanbase though. I mean this with no disrespect to Alter Bridge, but I anti...

Re: New Albums (Favorite albums halfway through the year?)
Albums that I've really enjoyed: Gojira - Magma Megadeth - Dystopia Steven Wilson - 41/2 Albums that I've listened to but I'm not particularly crazy about: Anthrax - For All Kings Tremonti - Dust Black Stone Cherry - Dust Albums that I'm really looking forward to: Testament - Brotherhood of the Snak...

Re: AB V
Given that it's July now I'd be surprised if it's released any earlier than late October. I've noticed a general rule that albums tend to be announced at least three months ahead of the release date, I've only noted a few exceptions to that rule.

Re: Brexit
I'm embarrassed for my country. Shocked to hear that 52% of voters believed the lies of the 'leave' campaign, we've found out only this morning that Farage's claim that the additional £350mil a week would go to the NHS was a 'mistake'. I anticipate that most of the people who voted for leave will pr...

Re: The Game of Thrones Thread.
I thought the episode was incredible. I was frustrated at Jon's lack of strategy and he really did get his ass handed to him for the majority of the battle, I genuinely thought he was going to lose, but that made the battle so much more suspenseful. Before the battle started I was dreading the inevi...
