Man, the full band arrangements of the solo stuff are sooooo much better.

"Rambler" is great. Actually pretty pumped for this album now.

Aside: noticed that Jasin Todd is (not coincidentally) the primary songwriter on "Rambler". God, I miss that guy. Remember when Shinedown were great?

The first two tracks are probably some of the best stuff I've heard from them since FOLKLORE, but neither of them can touch that album. Still, right direction.

Made it out to the Toronto solo show on Wednesday. I must say, the album sounds much better live than on the album. There's still a few melodic choices I'm not a huge fan of, but on the whole the tracks sound much more polished live.

I'm also enjoying the album, but I agree that the vocal performances are holding it back. I admire your commitment, but this is a wasted effort. By definition, song structure has infinite variations. It's fluid. Not sure if there's anything to be gleaned by making a list, other than some kind of existential crisis.

The new solo album dropped today. Just about through listening to it, and still, I'm not finding that it's grabbing me the way previous material by Thornley has. The instrumentation is lovely and worth sinking your teeth into, but the melodies aren't grabbing me. The best two songs are 6-7 years old...
