Re: Fortress Tabs/Tunings(Updated w/Cry of Achilles Nylon In

No problem. Did you tab out the bridge by any chance? I had ear fatigue after a little while and I'm at work now. If you'd like I can add it into my tab. I didn't write it down just did it by ear, but I'll try and tab it out tonight and include that if you'd like

Re: Crybaby wah

I actually prefer my CryBaby to my Tremonti Powerwah. I think it has a much nicer filter. The tremonti wah has a lot more treble. Its probably because I can control the crybaby better too. Enjoy it man! Vibratos high on the neck sound awesome with it!

Re: The Production on Fortress

You're 100% correct, I just miss those boomy guitar tones from Mark and the more mid range from Miles. Just my humble opinion. Some of the songs I really like but others I just can't listen to the guitars. The drums though, WOW. I finally listened to the whole thing just focusing on Flip and Brian. ...

Re: Fortress Tabs/Tunings(Updated w/Cry of Achilles Nylon In

I recorded most of the uninvited, I just have to figure out the bridge. There's a little too much going on there for me to figure it all out. It's tough to hear it all clearly. Once I finish it, I'll upload it to youtube and do a basic tab, which I'm sure will need some adjusting from someone who ha...

That's not Mark playing sweeps. They are arpeggios, but they are synthesized

Re: The Production on Fortress

I listen to the 320kbps version that was online. I'm sure its just a rip of the stream so the quality could be better, but so far I really don't like this mix at all. Guitars are too mushed into the mix. There's a lot more room for flip and brian though, which I love. THe guitars though, just don't ...

Re: Fortress... A Disappointment?

The songs are starting to grow on me, just not what I had anticipated from Alter Bridge. I'm an AB fan, so I play the record over and over. One thing that really bothers me though is the production. I know Elvis had to make room in the mix for Flip and Brian, but the guitar tones are awful. It sound...

Re: Listen to Fortress!

I'm waiting for the guitar tabs to start tickin' in, I suck at playing by ear. Have they announced release date for the guitar instructional dvd? This would be a good album to train your ear with. There's A LOT going on. There are a few I'd work on. Others are just to intricate and I don't have the...

Re: Fortress... A Disappointment?

I was let down by a lot of the choruses as well. I can listen to it, but I find myself spacing out more often than I did with their other albums.

Re: The 4th Album - FORTRESS - Discuss The Album Here!

I think I'm in the minority here, I love Fortress. It's probably my favorite on the album, aside from Addicted to Pain. The other tracks are growing on me, but I'm not sure I really enjoy them yet. I really dislike the guitar tones, I miss the lows from Mark and the mids from Myles. Sounds like the ...

Re: Listen to Fortress!

Definitely digging the cornford rk100 as his main rhythm amp. All I Was was a good first display.. this album set it in stone! I think I liked All I Was more. The tones here sound like they have a lot more gain and treble in them. Sounds very fizzy to me. I liked that compressed boomy recto sound, ...

Re: Fortress... A Disappointment?

This thing is seriously growing on me right now. Listening to it in 320kbps. I'm not sure how I feel about the guitar tones though, I'm used to that highly polished compressed tone! I wish the solo in peace is broken was more audible too. Every song is so different, this is a serious musical journey...

Re: Fortress... A Disappointment?

I'm listening to it for the second time. I can't say whether I do or don't like it yet. It's just different. I can see what you mean about the melodies, but It's good to hear them break away and evolve as musicians though. I've got a ton of respect for these guys. With that said, Addicted to Pain to...

Jim wrote:I dont hear any wah. Given the video proves that Mark does ALOT of half step bends throughout the solo (first half mainly), that could be mistaken for wah usage.. I'd happily take Marks word on the matter
I agree, I think it's a combo of those half bends and his usage of harmonics

Re: Mark Tremonti Talks About FORTRESS Track By Track

PS- still uses some wah and ascending legato in addicted to pain I'm not so sure. The solo sounds pretty wah-free to me, and I don't really hear any legato runs. I agree, I didn't hear any wah. There is an ascending run, but its picked. It's nothing like his usual descending legato pattern You don'...
