Re: Alter Bridge - VII

Is On My Way Now finally going to get recorded and released? I was thinking that yesterday and listened to the live video on my way home from work. Such a great song. My guess is that will forever be their lost gem, but you never know. As for ABVII I'm good with the title if it's Pawns & Kings....

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I've been enjoying The Violent's "Fly On the Wall" on Octane, so I did some research and discovered Red Sun Rising. Glad I did! Nice modern grunge sound without being overproduced. The singer especially is really damn good. Wonder if they'll ever release another album, but we'll see what ...

Re: The Official BLACK STONE CHERRY Thread

Going to try and resurrect this thread with the new album being released. What does everyone think? Overall I'm enjoying it. There are quite a few bangers and I like the overall vibe. I do think the drums, while they sound great, are a little too loud and kind of push the guitars back in the mix. I ...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I'm enjoying the songs that have been released so far. Maybe there could have been some changes here and there, but they work as accessible singles like anguyen said. I can honestly say I've had In the Deep's chorus stuck in my head the past few days. And if this album is supposed to go hand in hand...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I'm liking Pay No Mind more than Wouldn't You Rather. While they won't be the strongest, both are a solid intro to the album. WYR is the radio friendly single-y sounding one, and I've enjoyed it, but Pay No Mind feels more complete and like we're starting to dive into the meat of the album. The intr...

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

You have to cut one song off every album. Go! ODR - Watch Your Words. It's a consistently strong album but this is the weakest link. Blackbird - Break Me Down. Before Tomorrow Comes runs it close, but yeah, it's Break Me. Down. ABIII - Breathe Again. Get out. Fortress - Cry a River. It's a shame Ou...

Seriously though, the internet is both the greatest thing in the world and the worst thing in the world at the same time. It's so hard to keep anything a surprise or secret anymore, and I feel for you and all those who put so much time and effort and planning to make this reveal huge only to see so...

Listened to some of Naveed by Our Lady Peace tonight. That was a damn good debut album. Never fully appreciated it until now.

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

5) ODR - Great album, but the only songs that I consistently go back to are Open Your Eyes and Metalingus. It’s one of those albums though that you play start to finish and realize that man, Mark Tremonti can freakin write songs and old Myles was incredible Welcome to the forums! I totally agree on...

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

AB III doesn't have my favorite songs, but it is my favorite album also because it doesn't have a single bad song either. It's a NASCAR racer who never places, but is on top in the season because the others who do place also have their sets of bad races. I'm kind of in the same boat here (and I alw...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

It really does seem like a big change. Doesn't mean the music will be bad, but it's impossible not to notice. Maybe that's part of the challenge for them to do something different this time though? See if they can make a quality selection of short songs? Key word is quality. Year of the Tiger gener...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I don’t understand why people hate that he mixes things with layers the way he does. I think if you look back at the albums before fortress such as III it had a much more stripped down sound to it. First of all welcome to the forums :cheers To get to your point, IMO a stripped down sound is not a n...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I really like the album cover. Kind of like a fresh take on the Blackbird vibe. Also, the track list seems like they're drifting away from the political themes of TLH and back into faith/belief-based themes like AB3, which I'd totally be fine with. Anyway, it's really starting to come together now. ...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

Looks like they had a little trouble with the title for track #10. "The First Hero... no, One Week Remains... nah..." :lol In all seriousness, it's so satisfying when they finally show the completed white board picture. Getting closer and closer! Interesting to see there might be an instru...

Re: The Official DREAM THEATER Thread

Their new album Distance Over Time is out today! I think it's safe to say it's really damn good. It's aggressive yet fun to listen to. You can tell they had a good time making it. Petrucci really shines, you can hear Myung, Rudess knew when to step up and when to be restrained, LaBrie's age is start...
