Re: The Star Wars Thread (SOLO SPOILERS Inside)

These were the references I can remember. 1. Han shot first 2. The Kessel run in 12 parsecs 3. 3P0 saying Han’s ship had a “peculiar dialect” - because L3 is the ship’s brain 4. The dice 5. “Someone’s putting to...

Re: The Star Wars Thread (SOLO SPOILERS Inside)

I feel like the Darth Maul appearance could potentially setup a cameo of Han on Tatooine in either an Obi-Wan or Boba Fett movie. Darth Maul has a pretty good role in the cartoon universe, so I’m glad they finally had the guts to cinematically show that he survived the events of Episode 1. I mainly ...

Re: The Star Wars Thread (SOLO SPOILERS Inside)

Anyone else have a chance to see Solo yet? I was able to see it earlier tonight and loved it. I think the movie benefits from not having many expectations lol, but I really enjoyed what Ron Howard did with it.

Re: The Movie Thread

Is anyone else talking about how Nova Corps are a bunch of chumps for letting an empty-gauntlet Thanos get the first stone from them before the movie even begins?

Re: The Official “Total Randomness” Thread

I know it’s no surprise but Mark is the coolest guy. Off air he mentioned he’s a big fan of Brandon Sanderson (naturally I texted Andy) so I asked him about it and he suggested I read Mistborn. I asked him if he read the Dark Tower series and Eric piped in and said Mark’s a fan of it and Mark said ...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

@Andy92: up until St. Anger, the Metallica songs flowed for the most part. The transitions never felt awward, and most of the choruses sounded like they belonged to the song. Death Magnetic, on the other hand, sounded like an album whose parts were virtually assembled on Pro-tools. Also, Megadeth h...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

I’ll agree that there are times it sounds more awkward, like a chorus is just cut-pasted into the song. But I like how he writes choruses with strong melodies. That’s the kind of writing that always set Metallica above bands like Megadeth and Anthrax.

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

He’s addressed this before. He can’t sing and play overly complex riffs at the same time, so he tends to sing over chords and play more complex riffs when he’s not singing.

If he can’t do it live, he won’t do it in the studio.

Re: “A Dying Machine” Listening Party Thread

Tough crowd. I was there and the entire album is damn good; a great balance. Rather than dissecting every single thing and placing labels... ENJOY THE MUSIC! Looking forward to the release. Some people don’t enjoy the “poppy songs” but I prefer an album with a mix of styles. The singles we’ve heard...

Re: “A Dying Machine” Listening Party Thread

There might be a handful of processed sounding vocals on this one as a stylistic choice given the theme of the record with human-like machines.

Re: The Official "Total Randomness" Thread

Everyone is different. I haven’t listened to some albums that I love in ages simply because of how many times I’ve listened to them. I couldn’t tell you the last time I’ve heard Human Clay but it’s still one of my favorite albums. I tend to listen to albums as they release and move onto new ones aft...

Not digging it or...?

I liked it, just don’t want to burn it out before the album comes out.

Re: The Official SHINEDOWN Thread

I actually liked it more than Threat to Survival. It’s not as good as their first 3 (and probably first 4) albums, but it’s better than the previous one I think.

I’m a big fan of My Last Mistake. Agree with Once Dead though. Swap that for Decay. But overall it was an amazing looking setlist.
