Re: ALTER BRIDGE - Live at the O2 Arena + Rarities

Haha, I agree it is a bit confusing. I'm not sure if CTTG is supposed to be a single but if so, maybe they just saw the opportunity to pair it with a video to help promote the live album.

Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation

Wow – he doesn't explicitly confirm but it definitely sounds like they'll play WDDTW! If so, that would be huge. Cool to hear "Fortress" confirmed as well. Thanks for posting!

I chose the Earbook since the book looks really cool... like what the AB X box set should've been. :X And I've no need for the trinkets in the O2 box set.

Re: Alter Bridge Summer Europe Tour 2017

Wow... TSOF and "Fortress". When AB decides to finally play Ireland, they play Ireland.

The videos are fantastic. A little rough in spots but otherwise masterful. And these are complicated songs so a little rust is expected given how infrequently they're played.

Re: The long time member

Jim was at Download and I believe he was a bit freaked out by the sheer number of people wearing AB shirts, singing all the songs, etc. Like where did these people come from? Surely they weren't all at the little club shows back in the day. So the band has no shortage of followers in the UK, and the...

Re: Alter Bridge Summer Europe Tour 2017

True, he's really giving it his all lately on the SMAL chorus – hitting the notes and holding them the full duration.

Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation

I'd chalk "Battery" more up to a) Metallica's erratic tempos and b) most of the song sits at a single chord, so most of the orchestra composition feels forced/made up.

Re: Royal Albert Hall DVD

I suppose if it's two full days they will be able to run through the full set's-worth of songs maybe 10 times? Not bad IMO. I doubt they'll be doing a bunch of real-time brainstorming on arrangements anyway, given the orchestral parts will presumably be entirely written beforehand.

Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation

I'm inclined to agree - fast songs can work with an orchestra if done properly. Especially given Alter Bridge's (and particularly Mark's) writing style where even fast guitar riffs often overlay a slower-paced chord progression. Take "Radical Change" for example (not an AB song but just go...

Re: Royal Albert Hall Setlist/Speculation

I'd guess the same thing about identical sets. Also because the arrangements will have to be deliberately composed for every song -- which I bet is a ton of work -- so they'd be unlikely to do all that work for a song they only play once. In general I'm just hoping they do a good mix of old staples ...

Re: Royal Albert Hall DVD

Calm The Fire and Slip The Void with orchestra :cloud9 Oh man, the CTF intro with strings behind it would be epic. I kind of agree, this thing could go either way... a poorly-done orchestral arrangement would just come off as out of place. But I'm inclined to be optimistic that they'll do it right....

Re: Royal Albert Hall DVD

Yeah I hope they do all the "epic" tracks. Fortress, TLH, Words, Cry, TSOF, Blackbird of course. ILM would be cool since the original version has some strings in the background.

Re: It'll always be RAH in my heart though.

Oh man, I wonder if the never-before-played songs will include WDDTW. Absolutely! Hoping there's a sweet behind the scenes documentary on the collaboration with the orchestra. Ditto that! I want to know about everything including how the the orchestral parts were composed, what their practices looke...

Re: Alter Bridge Summer Europe Tour 2017

Funny that "White Knuckles" used to be such a staple that I almost got sick of seeing it on their set lists, but now I'm delighted whenever they decide to pull it out. That bridge really gets the crowd going.

Re: ALTER BRIDGE - Live at the O2 Arena + Rarities

You're nuts! I'm unfathomably excited for the ODR b-sides. It's not often you get truly taken back to the those magical early days. I'm almost ashamed to admit hearing "Breathe" moved me more than any of the other songs on The Last Hero . Not that the newer songs aren't moving, (in fact th...
