Re: The Last Hero - AB Nation Discussion

AB23 wrote:No AB album, including Fortress which is one I rather liked, will ever come close to the meaning those have for me. Burn it Down has been one of the most helpful songs I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I love it in every way, and i thank god that it exists.

Re: The Last Hero - AB Nation Discussion

One listen through - this really saddens me. There is some really beautiful songwriting here...but it's buried beneath this fuzzy, muddy mountain of noise. Why? Why did anyone think it was a good idea to make it sound like this? There are some tracks that had the potential to be really, really great...

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread

@Buffon : sorry, it won't happen. Elvis is unfortunately here to stay. If only they worked with Nick Raskulinecz or Joe Barresi... I mean, just listen to the new KoRn songs : Raskulincez has brought this band back from the dead because he knows what he's doing. Oh I know he isn't going anywhere. An...

Re: Official "The Last Hero" Thread

Sorry all, but this mix sounds like a giant slop bucket full of shit. And the songs are entirely unimpressive. This coming from someone who has hung on with white knuckles awaiting every album, single and b-side release since ODR. Not sure what everyone else is listening to here. This is bad.

Re: Books/What are you reading?

I'm not going to sort through 9 pages to see if this has been posted already, but I just finished "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand. If you like a) true stories, b) a testament to the human spirit and endurance, and c) a little history, it's a great read.

Re: Favourite Lead Single From Alter Bridge?

Definitely Open Your Eyes. That song got me into Alter Bridge and there will always be too much nostalgia to change my mind on it. This. I don't think it's the best first single they released, but I was such a huge Tremonti fan in the Creed days...I remember hearing a radio interview Myles did talk...

Re: Listening to Addicted to Pain

So after my initial listens last night, I poured myself an adult beverage after getting off work this afternoon and sat down for a few more. (Kudos to AB for not crying about the leak and instead releasing the HQ version - or at least as HQ as YouTube gets.) Few more thoughts: My initial impression ...

Re: Listening to Addicted to Pain

I haven't been on these boards in years (some of you might remember me from 2004-2007, before I had a falling out with a few of the mods). Long story short, my musical tastes started changing (as is bound to happen in college), I reacted badly to Rise Today, was probably too vocal with my criticism...

Re: Listening to Addicted to Pain

It has been many moons since I posted on the old ABB.net boards. Great to be back, great to hear some new AB hitting the [illegal] airwaves. After giving the song about a dozen listens, here are my thoughts. I for one cried often for harder tunes, knowing Mark's metal history and hearing various sou...
