Re: Tremonti in NYC on September 12!
I'm going to this. I'm gonna try and meet mark and the gang after the show by the bus. Is this venue medium or small sized? Last concert I went to was at Irving Plaza and that was pretty cool

Re: Doesn't Matter
Is it me, or is this one of the songs that could make an easy Alter Bridge transition? That bridge is pure Myles/Mark chemistry right there.

Got my tickets...is this the type of venue where we'll be able to catch them by the bus after the show?

Re: All I Was Tunings
Looks like Mark might be tuning some of the songs down live to compensate for the strain on his voice.

Yeah, except the A string is a 42 for drop B, not a 38.

Re: Tremonti - Proof
Seems all good, except that first chord.
I think it's got the Major 7 shape. Make it easier to play too and sounds better:
C# 0
G# 3
E 2
B 3
F# 1
B

Re: The BASS thread
Well, the thing with Newsted was - they decided to lower the bass volume to about 15% in tribute to Cliff Burton or something like that. As for Elvis work for Chevelle - they have only one guitar in the mix most of the time, which allows the bass to stay closer to the front of the mix. Actually, pr...

Mark's strings
His main string gauge goes 10 13 17 28 38 54 (drop Db and Eb sometimes) The 10, 13, 17 are from a set of D'Addario 10's, the 28 and 38 are from a set of 11's and the 54 (what he uses on his favorite guitar with the Dimebag sticker) is from a set of 12's. He also uses a 56 for the Drop Bb tuning. Not...

Re: The BASS thread
I think having two guitar and drums eating up all the frequencies is the issue there...Like what happened to Jason Newsted on And Justice for all. Like if you hear some of Elvis' other work, like on Chevelle's 3rd album, the bass cuts through really strong in the mix. Not sure if it's the producer, ...

Re: The BASS thread
Brian is loud as hell, if you hear him live up close he's way louder than mark. On the records too, you just need good speakers, he's got massive low end going on there. Brian WAS loud as hell on My Own Prison and Human Clay. I can only barely hear him in AB, except The Damage Done, Breathe Again a...

Re: All I Was Tunings
Yeah I need to change that. I figured that out yesterday.SchwiizVT12 wrote:I posted in the Tremonti forum, but I think "Brains" is the other song in open B5. Listen to those notes in the intro; they ring out far too much to be easily played in drop B.

Re: The BASS thread
I 'm still a beginner bassist but I've always been a low-end lover so bass thread makes me happy :D I absolutely love Brian's gear - Sadowsky makes awesome guitars (in terms of sound and LOOK) My favourite Polish bassist uses Sadowsky as well... Isn't that a shame that B. is often so quiet in the m...

I know he's using his ashdown rig these days, which is 3 ABM900 heads, 2 8x10 cabs, ans 2 1x15 cabs. Pretty simple.

Re: Tremonti Project: Previews
After listening to "Brains" a little more, would anyone be inclined to agree when I say that the song sounds like it's in open B5 tuning (same as "Rain")? You could be right. He said there are two songs in B5, (new way out and one other) but it's hard to tell on Brains. You woul...

The BASS thread
Any other bassists out there? Gotta give Brian the respect he deserves. He's one of the best well rounded bass players in rock today. He has such a unique style that immediately you recognize. I think E-ROCK might have taken some influence from Brian on All I Was. Anyone got pics of Brian's rig over...

Conventional drop B, cuz he's using his baritone guitar on those songs.steve987 wrote:Do you know if that's the conventional Drop B (B F# B E G# Db)
Or is it the Drop B Tremonti uses in Alter Bridge? (B A D G B E) ?

All I Was Tunings
So here is what I got for guitar tunings. I think Mark made a slight gaffe in the last interview he gave regarding guitar tunings. There's like 6 songs in Drop B and like 5 in Drop C#. Then there's two in Open B5, and one in D standard. Leave it Alone - Drop B So You're Afraid- Drop C# Wish you Well...

Here's how close I got to Mark's live clean tone the other day. I should repost it because I got it even better today.

Re: The Official CHEVELLE Thread
Cool, yeah The Clincher was the first Chevelle song I liked. They are great live, the shows are always full of energy. It's quite the experience being front row at a sold out show being blasted back by Sam Loeffler's bass drops. I've met them 3 times. They're really cool, down to earth people. A lot...
