The studio version is definitely E standard, he tunes down to C# live.

Re: Music song structures

About the ‘no hooks’ thing, I do think it helps a song if there is a recurring melody of sorts. Doesn’t have to be a chorus, but can be a guitar melody or a cowbell for all that matters. To make the above more relevant, what is missing from BTBAM sometimes is that recurring melody that ties it all ...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Oh boy here we go again. Does Mark even listen to his rhythm guitar tone (or playing)? Or anyone?! Like usual the right ear (where Marks guitar is mixed) is a total sloppy mess. Totally unlistenable. On the other end, Myles' guitar sounds perfectly fine. Can't blame 'm for making Myles' guitar over...

Re: Music song structures

I say that while I'm listening to the new Between The Buried And Me album. Talking about 'loose' song structures.... I've also listened to that, as well as the majority of BTBAM's catalogue over the last month of so and it's even 'too loose' in their case, because there is nothing you can grab onto...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

Chtimixeur, you brind up some amazing points, man, and I agree with majority of them, but: - Found is by far the dullest thing ever released by Mark. Never in a million years shoukd it have made (and closed) the record. Here, I strongly disagree. Found is a very pleasant departure from what he does ...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

What's the point of making a concept album if it's not chronological? I mean, there are some crazy exceptions (like Beyond Twilight's For the Love of Art and the Making) but it sounds weird in alternative metal context. Also, is it just me or Take You With Me with its pop-punkish vibe sounds complet...

In the entirety of it? I don't know what's cheesy about 'Lullaby' in turn. The name says it all, this track has a special function on the album.

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

I've just gone through the album and I have no idea how this could be the best album Mark has ever been involved in, because all the tunes seem very hackneyed but God, if only he could've expermented a little bit more with the soundscapes and ambience as he did in 'Found' instead of metal chugging a...

Re: TABN Tremonti interview – submit your questions now!

"As The Silence Becomes Me" features a piano riff. Can we expect more instruments that are 'unusual' for Tremonti on A Dying Machine? Can we expect anythining like that on the next AB record?

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

Flying Monkeys is a classic example of puzzlelike type of songwriting. One of the few songs where he does it right. Besides the bridge the groove stays the same throughout most of the song. Well, I beg to differ. The groove itself is very bland imo, I'm not surprised it never clicked in AB. All tho...

What's This Life For has an extra intro on the Blue Collar Version that Mark used to play live. Other than that the mix is just different, more organic I would say.

Re: Alter Bridge/Creed/Mark Tremonti Tuning Master List

"A Dying Machine" is in Drop B. 6/8 or 6/4 signature @ 145 BPM Somebody posted a cover tuned to Standard B and it would make sense cause it seems like Mark is using these 'extended' sus powerchords where you drop the fifth down an octave so you get for instance: ------------- ------------...

Wasn't that the intention?

Had I spent a couple of years crafting my signature amp, it would be quite irrational to use something else live.
