Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Troubles with the sound and orchestra-mix ? Buy a decent sound-system. I get the feeling that in this digital and streaming age the quality of playing-gear is getting worse and worse and people are expecting compensation for that in mixing and production. I listen to S&M by Metallica on Spotify...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

I don't find this performance great and I'm open about it. What I actually find annoying, are the fans who swallow everything the band puts out without any word of criticism. 'This is one of the best rock bands' is a justification for Myles being sloppy? I think it's quite telling that long time fan...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

- Myles didn't goof too much, he barely "talk-singed", and we almost didn't hear any "that's right" during the show. He really tried his best, and I salute him for that. Myles hasn't been performing vocals too well for years IMO. He simplifies his own vocal lines too often and s...

They were sent the link. They say at the beginning that a guy from the publishing company reached out to them.

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

I'm sorry but Mark's tone sounds like shit on these backed off 'clean' wannabe parts like the verse of Brand New Start or Blackbird. I can't believe he couldn't bring out a proper clean amplifier for such a legendary gig.

Re: AB VI Speculation

Stop caring about what the fans want and write whatever feels right to you I don't think they really have the fans in mind that much with how they do stuff given various fans' gripes of the sound quality of their albums......... :shifty I wasn't talking about the production side of things (I don't ...

Re: AB VI Speculation

More progressive songs structure wise (but I don't get my hopes up, they've been talking about that since Fortress and we gonna get 1-2 songs less formulaic that the rest) More interesting parts (Mark's been labelled as a riff god, but I haven't seen that lately - and please don't write riffs to a d...

The studio version is definitely E standard, he tunes down to C# live.

Re: Music song structures

About the ‘no hooks’ thing, I do think it helps a song if there is a recurring melody of sorts. Doesn’t have to be a chorus, but can be a guitar melody or a cowbell for all that matters. To make the above more relevant, what is missing from BTBAM sometimes is that recurring melody that ties it all ...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

Oh boy here we go again. Does Mark even listen to his rhythm guitar tone (or playing)? Or anyone?! Like usual the right ear (where Marks guitar is mixed) is a total sloppy mess. Totally unlistenable. On the other end, Myles' guitar sounds perfectly fine. Can't blame 'm for making Myles' guitar over...

Re: Music song structures

I say that while I'm listening to the new Between The Buried And Me album. Talking about 'loose' song structures.... I've also listened to that, as well as the majority of BTBAM's catalogue over the last month of so and it's even 'too loose' in their case, because there is nothing you can grab onto...

Chtimixeur, you brind up some amazing points, man, and I agree with majority of them, but: - Found is by far the dullest thing ever released by Mark. Never in a million years shoukd it have made (and closed) the record. Here, I strongly disagree. Found is a very pleasant departure from what he does ...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

What's the point of making a concept album if it's not chronological? I mean, there are some crazy exceptions (like Beyond Twilight's For the Love of Art and the Making) but it sounds weird in alternative metal context. Also, is it just me or Take You With Me with its pop-punkish vibe sounds complet...

In the entirety of it? I don't know what's cheesy about 'Lullaby' in turn. The name says it all, this track has a special function on the album.
