Re: The Art Of Letting Go - MK III

They make most of their money from touring as far as I know. Make shorter EP's if you desperately want some new material to promote, but I largely agree with Dolo. It's really just quantity over quality at this point. Myles has to write so many lyrics and melodies that everything starts to mush tog...

Re: Myles' vocal tone through the years

He's clearly found a way to sing that is sustainable. I think he used to use a heavy mix or chest voice to brute force his way into notes that clearly took its toll. He's very much head voice now. I wish that I could figure out how to use head voice myself. My range is very limited because I can on...

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

I got the 57/08 pickups I mention above for £160. How are they different from 85/15 LT 'S'? Are they higher output? They're not high output but they have incredible clarity and clean up on the volume very well. It might be psychological but I really feel the USA pickups just sound more open and cle...

Re: Myles' vocal tone through the years

Myles' Citizen Swing, MF4 and early AB vocal tone was incredible. Year of the tiger had some songs that kinda reminded me of that beautiful tone. I think if AB were to ever put out like an all acoustic, moodier album, Myles could easily channel that old school timber in his voice. I think it's some...

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

How are you getting on with the McCarty? I took one in a trade and couldn't quite get on with the pickups. That wine colour is pretty cool. Reminds me of Jerry Cantrell signature Les Paul. It feels and plays really well in Drop C# with 10-52's after I had some setup done to it but yeah, the pickups...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

https://youtu.be/1gxZIL4zpIQ Because I'm in a nostalgic mood. Fun fact, this track was actually made out of a longer album track to appease the record company asking for 'a hit'. They just took the chorus from that album track, sped it up and shoved a rap verse in there. The band hates it.... and d...

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

USA Tremonti update: Turns out after all these years of lusting after them that I absolutely hated the Tremonti pickups. The bridge pickup has enormous bass and almost no top end... which explains Mark's live tone. Works for him but it's just not for me. I love the rest of the guitar so I whacked s...

Re: The Art Of Letting Go - MK III

You know, the production on this is pretty good. Elvis has been hitting as much as missing with me at the moment. Marching in Time sounded great, Kings and Pawns sounded pretty good and darn it, Myles is right about the Diezel Paul. That thing sounds great.

Re: The Art Of Letting Go - MK III

Agree on the Big Wreck vibes with Mr Downside. Interestingly Myles says Dead to Rights is actually a direct tribute to Ian Thornley, which I can definitely see with the solo in particular. I actually questioned whether it was Ian Thornley for the first 15 seconds or so of the solo, then determined ...

Re: I could sell ad space to scammers...

Hey everyone - the board's hosting fees are due again. Alex (ABW1987) has been kind enough to pay for a majority of it the past few years along with a few other mods. Was hoping we might be able to take some of the weight off of Alex this year and get some contributions from board members. Not requ...

Re: Video Game Bonanza!

Did you try Lies of P? That's an extremely good Soulslike experience. Loved every minute of it. No, I watched streamers play it on Twitch. Didn't seem like a game I'd enjoy. It's weird. It looks crap, but is actually awesome to play. I was deeply cynical from watching reviews but I'd say it's worth...

Re: The Official "Total Randomness" Thread

Just bought tickets to see both Tremonti and Myles's respective solo efforts. It's the deconstructed Alter Bridge experience. I am considering buying tickets to see Myles in January. As for Tremonti.... cries in North America No US tour for Tremonti? Have you managed to catch a show by them before?

Re: Video Game Bonanza!

Started playing Remnant 2 a few days ago. I like it but I think it's a game best suited to play with friends because I find myself kinda lost on what to do by myself so I end up just joining random public lobbies and following people around while they do things. I also started playing Black Myth Wu...

Addicted To Pain wrote: Mon Sep 30, 2024 1:42 am That looks awesome! How does it play?
It's really quite physically heavy, and it needed a setup. However, once I set it up it plays like a dream. The pickups are a little hotter than I'm used to but it's a really nice guitar. The bridge is great and the intonation is spot on.

Dolo wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 4:20 pm Does 'Save Me' include Mark on the harmony vocals in the chorus or is it just doubled Myles? Mark was doing quite a lot of backing vocals around that time but I can't quite tell if it's him.
I'm 90% sure that's Mark.

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

I can't possibly imagine justifying spending that much on a guitar unless I was selling millions of records and touring stadiums but yeah, have fun with this beast! I have a lot of insured value in motorcycles and guitars. If you buy well and get stuff that won't lose value then it's easy to recove...
