Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.

Mark is a riff machine, but I've never been truly impressed by the way he builds songs around those riffs. It's way too predictable and there is nothing extraordinary about it. . That's actually true. Mark writes a shitload of great riffs but rarely does he every surprise me with the way the rest o...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.

If anything, it's the bridge and solo section. They've not really done anything to top that in my estimation, even though I prefer certain other songs as a whole.

Re: I'm a bum compared to nurses

I hate it when I put in a full week and get excited about going home to see my family.. then I get a call that they need me back at work and that it’s critical! :( Hope it’s clearing up for you! I’m keeping all of you medical workers in my thoughts! Thank you! Your thoughts and prayers are needed t...

He did. Could be improved a little though. I don't think it has aged as well as ODR.

Re: Lesser Known Artists

That's the one! I was playing Control this month and that's where the above song is from, by the same developers as the Alan Wake stuff. This song was fantastic. I need to check out Poets of the Fall, though I get the feeling that they play up the metal cheesiness as The Old Gods of Asgard. Come to ...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.

The should totally release remixed/remastered versions of their previous albums when they turn 20 in 2024. Sadly, if they did that then ODR and BB would be butchered. That's true and sad. I never particularly found Blackbird's mix to be all that great. It's a bit... closed in. Certainly dated to th...

I got 'da Tier 4 blues

Being stuck inside for the foreseeable future, not seeing any family or friends at Christmas or NYE. However, I'm healthy and so are they currently so it's still alright.

Still I got the weekly food shop to look forward to.... that's about as exciting as life gets for the moment.

Re: Tremonti V...

So happy for Wolfie finally getting his solo material out there and already getting tons of positive feedback from it. I have to selfishly admit though that I'm super disappointed that this likely means that not only is he gone for good from Tremonti, but now Garrett as well. Again, good for Garret...

Re: Coldplay--- Surprising.

Back in the day, I loved Coldplay. Their first two albums were great, open production, good songs, lovely tasteful piano and guitar playing, inventive arrangements and composition. X&Y lost me somewhat as it felt like album 1 & 2 but a bit watered down. Viva la Vida was interesting enough bu...

Re: @Starbucks: "2 French donuts and a cup of Italian water - black."

So... I was just watching The Departed (sorry.. The Depaaaahhted) and I have a question for our USA-dwelling members. In one scene Matt Damon's girlfriend calls a croissant a 'French donut'.... is this a thing? EDIT: If you like The Departed, give some time to watch the Hong Kong movie it was based...

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

Ah cool. Yeah, getting an interface can be tough with all the choices out there. I went for a Focusrite in the end. The Scarlett range is supposed to be pretty good. I think the Captor also comes with the 'wall of sound' plugin where you have more control over the cab sound.

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

That guitar is sick. Enjoy! I have an MT15 and it’s nice. It gets pretty loud so I mostly play it through a Captor X load box using a Celestion V30 IR now. Still have the external cab that I crank up on occasion but it’s not super family friendly volume levels. :lol The Captor X is a slick piece of...

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

I actually decided to not listen to any tracks before its release, but knowing what were the singles while listening to it for the first time, I feel a little different here. I like when there are gems beyond the singles that are "discovered." It's also one of the reasons I like hearing a...

Re: Mammoth WVH (Wolfgang Van Halen) - Distance

Distance is a lovely tribute but not quite my style. You're to Blame is getting more on my wavelength. I'll be very interested to hear what the rest of the album is like. Hopefully a bit more of the eccentricity that EVH showed rubbed off on WVH than what is in these songs (though they are good song...
