Re: Reasons why Alter Bridge doesn't play songs live?

I think sometimes there are songs you just don't enjoy playing live. There are some tracks with my band that just aren't fun to play even though they sound great in the studio and we're proud of them. Fitting things in a setlist without oversaturating ballads or bringing the mood too low can be a bi...

Re: Why these broken video screens?

It's just an artistic thing. Where it drops some stuff in the continuity of the image, it adds something by the split images. Some will like it. Some won't. I imagine it's easier to pack multiple smaller screens in a truck than one large screen, though. Maybe those large ones disassemble? Yeah they...

Re: Battle of the Albums (beta)

There are some tough fights in there, track 8 has a very high hit rate. I did feel this gave some easy passes to tracks I don't normally give praise to, like I did not expect such an easy win for Tear Us Apart or The End is Here (although this has reached new heights with the RAH album). My versions...

Re: Why these broken video screens?

You can put lights between the gaps in the screens and also have a great light show as well as just screens with a couple of lights surrounding it. I agree words and one big image can look a bit awkward, but I think for setting a scene it can work quite well. I definitely prefer it to just a fabric ...

Re: Walk the Sky Europe 2019 Tour w/ Shinedown and the Raven Age

Although the O2 gig was ages ago now, I never managed to put my thoughts down about it, so why not now, as part of it has my thoughts on Shinedown as well. Firstly, I didn't know Sevendust couldn't make it, and tbh, if I'd known The Raven Age were playing, I would have turned up earlier. Nothing aga...

Re: Best and worst Alterbridge album

Fortress
Blackbird
Walk The Sky
ABIII
One Day Remains
The Last Hero

Walk the Sky is so much more consistent that even though songs like Slip to the Void and Words are probably better than anything on WTS, the weak parts of ABIII drag it below.

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

So just a quick one after one listen from me: When you guys were describing The Bitter End, I was convinced it wasn't going to be for me, but it's an instant banger for me, and is the part that made me take this seriously as one of their good albums It's not Fortress, and maybe not quite Blackbird,...

Re: Walk The Sky - Favorite Songs Poll

The Bitter End
Pay No Mind
Forever Falling
Clear Horizon
Walking on the Sky

It's like that little corner of the album is where it all goes down. I would like to send a bit of love to In the Deep. I like it, but it's not a top 5, and I feel bad it's the only one with no votes.

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I think that's the state of music now anyway, tbh. Singles are preferred, because It's singles that get on the radio and Spotify playlists. A lot of bands will do albums very rarely but a single every few months or so.

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I wonder, If Mark is using IEMs and has a proper clean tone back, but the Fender Twins aren't visible, if he's using a Fractal/Kemper/Helix for those tones. I don't think the Mesa Rectifiers have a good enough clean tone to pull it off. Maybe the PRS amps do, but I certainly doubt the tiny signatur...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

He's also recently said The Mayfield Four's Fallout is the worst record he's made, so it's fair to say Myles can't be trusted to judge his own music. This is crazy, coming from someone who's released so many average albums with Slash. Fallout is filled with amazing songs, and man, those vocals were...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

So Myles’ favorite song from the album is In The Deep, damn... He's also recently said The Mayfield Four's Fallout is the worst record he's made, so it's fair to say Myles can't be trusted to judge his own music. I've had it in my own band, the songs I find the most fun to play aren't always the be...

Re: Favourite promo track?

Pay No Mind. It's the one where I understood what they were doing with the synth and the more optimistic vibe on the album. After hearing it, it made WYR make more sense and gave me a new approach to hear the tracks released afterwards. Well that's interesting because I would argue that Pay No Mind...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

Despite the fact they've never had much radio play, for a lot of people, Alter Bridge are a pretty commercial band. A lot of Metal fans would put them on the commercial end of the spectrum, and I think there's a reason a lot of casual music fans (for lack of a better term) find things they like in A...

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

I think this is the first time I've heard Brian's bass tone since Cry of Achilles, and that's a massive shame, because it sounds fantastic. Much better production, they really kept it simple at it worked. I'd personally still want to play around with EQ a bit, but a massive improvement. I was at fir...

Re: Alter Bridge Walk the Sky Tour 2019

If Walk the Sky is a much more positive thinking album, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new closer come from it. Probably not this tour, but somewhere down the line, once it's settled it. Open Your Eyes works well, and I think Before Tomorrow Comes could work as well, as big sing-along moments Cry ...
