I say this about any song on the album that is without a solo... :lol

Dying Light. It's got the quiet, the heaviness, the dual solos!

Re: Amps & Other Guitar Gear

I'm really starting to research a new, better amp rig. I've got a couple of cheap-o combo amps, my Samick SGA30 I've had for ten years... I think it's about time I upgrade, looking at a head/cab setup. The Orange Micro Dark amp head has got my attention. So beefy for such a tiny box. As for a cab, I...

Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 11

I had to choose Breathe Again. That song doesn't get nearly the credit it deserves! That high note around the 3:00 - 3:10 mark is I think equally impressive as the vocal run at the end of Words Darker! My fiance who isn't at all an AB fan was even impressed!

Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 07

Looks like another no contest victory, this time for Calm The Fire... Indoctrination has such a nasty riff though, one of my favorites from the new record. Wonderful Life and In Loving Memory both mean so much to me. I've never cared much for Losing Patience and Rise Today is an anthem for this gene...

Re: Battle Of The Track Numbers: Track 05

I voted Metalingus because it was the first exposure to AB I had (thanks Edge)... But thinking about it, Still Remains has grown on me exponentially since ABIII came out. This is maybe the weakest set of tracks in the band's catalog. I still don't love Native Son, Coming Home is pretty underrated an...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

Am I crazy here, or does One Life merge reeaaaally well with Clear Horizon? Has a similarly dreamy intro, using a very similar voice. And imagine that godly riff being the first heaviness on the album. Even uses "clear escape" in both songs! (EDIT - clear and pure escape, DAMMIT) I am her...

Re: Walk The Sky Production Quality.

I feel like the production on Walk The Sky is slightly better than it was on The Last Hero... It's no Blackbird (their most perfectly mixed record?) but it doesn't totally hurt my ears like TLH did

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Aside from Walk The Sky, I've been jamming the TWO new albums from Texas country badass Cody Jinks. After The Fire and The Wanting were released a week apart. Good stuff.

I've been having trouble getting into Clear Horizon as well. Something about that chorus sounds all Slash and The Conspirators

Re: The Movie Thread

After months of anticipation and much speculation... I finally got a chance to watch Rob Zombie's newest film, 3 From Hell, the third film in the Devil'd Rejects trilogy. Man, what a disappointment... It offers nothing new that we didn't see in Rejects, 15 years ago... I loved Richard Brake's new ch...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

Native Son is alright... The riffing is nasty, the lyrics are good. The verse melody reminds me of self-titled era Alice In Chains. The pre-chorus grooves. It's the "Ohhh oh ohh oh" thing in the chorus that spoils it for me. Kinda like Tremonti's From The Sky, seems like they couldn't thin...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

Some of the best lyricism I've ever heard from both Mark and Myles on this album! One thought I've had since giving the disc a few spins is this... Enough songs on this album start out with a thin but fuzzy picking intro. Maybe they'd sound better on a clean tone like some of AB's classic intros. I ...

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

Godspeed is fantastic and gives me sort of a Ghost of Days Gone By feel.
Take The Crown still jams.
I do hear something of a guitar solo buried in the mix of Indoctrination and wish it were louder!
Some of Mark and Myles' harmonies on Walking On The Sky give off heavy Mastodon vibes!

Re: Walk The Sky Reaction Thread

I'm still not entirely sold on Native Son or Clear Horizon...

Is anyone else hearing the band HIM in the intro of Godspeed?! It's like something straight from "Razorblade Romance"!
