I Prevail - TRUE POWER Album Review

I Prevail . Yes, they are best known for covering a Taylor Swift song. I put their 2019 album - Trauma - as one of my favorites from that year. The follow up is TRUE POWER . 1. 0:00 - It's an intro. Some strange electronic noises and a sudden piercing sound that builds up into.... 2. There's Fear I...

Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal Album Review

You know an album is going to be loud when you have to turn down your headphones compared to other music you've recently listened to. I stumbled upon Bring Me The Horizon back when Alter Bridge was heading to play live with the Parallax Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall. BMTH had a few videos on YouTub...

Issues - Headspace Review

When I first heard of the band Issues it was in 2019 on Pandora. They have a fun blend of funk, jazz, hip-hop, electronic, and definitely metal/hard rock. I'd lump them into the same nu-metal group as early Incubus (oh, that reminds me I need to review Make Yourself). After the introduction I dug in...

Skillet - Comatose Album Review

Where were you in 2006? I had just moved to Massachusetts. There were a bunch of Christian rock groups that I started listening to - Decyfer Down, Red, Disciple, and Thousand Foot Krutch. But the leader of the pack was..... Skillet - Comatose . Say what you will about them, this album sounds great a...

Re: Myles' vocal tone through the years

This has been a hard thing for me to deal with over the years. Myles' Mayfield 4 voice has such a nice mid tone to it and his high, held notes are legendary. I'm no vocal expert but he carried much of that into ODR and Blackbird. Even ABIII had elements but Make It Right started the shift where I no...

Re: Pawns & Kings Europe Tour 2022 with Halestorm and Mammoth WVH

Good stuff! Mark sounded a little off on the opening but pulled it back together nicely. When he stepped it up in the chorus it fit his voice well. Myles' solo was elegant and had nice feeling to it.

Re: Mark about a Creed reunion

TF4L it's been a while since I've seen you on the board. I remember you back from the ABB.net days when my screen name was Faulk2882. Thanks for taking time to write everything out. You make a ton of good points. When a band breaks up, when they’re big the way that Creed was I feel like they create ...

Fire From The Gods - American Sun

Ah, 2019. This was a big music year for me. I was introduced to a ton of bands I'd never listened to before and started exploring the metalcore genre. My favorite album of the year was Fire From The Gods - American Sun. 1. Truth To The Weak (Not Built To Collapse) - right from the get go we are intr...

Re: PVRIS - “White Noise”

5. White Noise - This is my favorite vocal performance on the album. It leans a bit more into pop territory than some of the other songs, but the lyrics and vocals really elevate it to something special. If I could only choose one song to keep from the record, this would be it. 10/10. I really enjo...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

The ironic thing about this is that the best example I can think of of a memorable AB chorus over the past two albums, is Stay. And people hate Stay. :lol It took a few listens before Stay hooked itself into my brain, but when it did, it hit hard! I for one am not people! Stay is so sweet and cheer...

Re: PVRIS - “White Noise”

Jumping back to 2016 and the good old days of freshman year of college - I was just getting back from a trip to Germany and France, and my buddy played PVRIS ’ “White Noise” for me for the first time. Funny enough, I heard the song “Fire” earlier in the week as part of WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-v...

Welcome home! I'm in north central Iowa, near Mason City/Clear Lake. :) Thanks, man. My parents and one of my sisters live in Mason City. My youngest sister, her husband, and my niece live in Albert Lea, MN. She works at a dental office in Garner. You going to see AB in Minnesota in February?

Switchfoot - The Beautiful Letdown

Going back in time again to one of my all time favorite albums. I can still remember hearing the Meant To Live guitar riff on the radio driving around Phoenix, AZ during my college years. Switchfoot - The Beautiful Letdown - turned me onto the band. I bought every album they put out up to Vice Verse...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

Good point AHart96. I listened to an acoustic recording of Brand New Start from early 2007 that I had stored on my old laptop and it brought me to tears. The melody of that song has lasted through the years and is a favorite that I come back to time and time again.

Re: The Official "Total Randomness" Thread

Tenacious, I love stories like yours. All the ups, downs, and sideways that brought you to the place you are today. I'm turning 40 in a few weeks and find myself back in the Midwest, living just outside of Des Moines, Iowa after being in Massachusetts for almost 16 years. I was digging through my ol...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

I think nostalgia and memories play a big part of it. I don’t listen to albums straight through as much as I used to during high school and college years. Music people listen to in earlier years of their lives seems to have a staying power throughout. I also think that my attention span has shorten...

Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

Well, I knew it would happen but didn't think it would be so soon. I'm taking a break from P&K as I've grown tired of it. I listened to the whole album again on vinyl yesterday and can safely say now that it still lands on the same level as ABIII. Some solid songs - I think Last Man Standing is ...

Re: Pawns & Kings Europe Tour 2022 with Halestorm and Mammoth WVH

I'd love to hear Burn It Down live. I don't think they've ever played it in all the times I've seen them. Hoping This Is War comes back around and maybe one more song from P&K.

Memphis May Fire - Remade In Misery

Switching back to 2022 and my favorite albums of this year. Memphis May Fire - Remade in Misery. They made an interesting choice to release singles on a regular basis with accompanying performance videos - WARNING ABOUT STROBING LIGHTS! . 1. Blood & Water - super distorted climbing guitar riff/h...
