Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"

The part at 19:50 where Myles was on the verge of crying was very moving.
I also noticed Elvis speaks a lot like Flip.

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

That's not surprising, since his music has been quite similar to AB's so far. I know some people feel that adding a bunch of metal riffs sets them totally apart, but I'm a positive a casual rock/metal listener will immediately be able to tell he's "the dude from Alter Bridge". "Take y...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

Do you guys think, that the new album will perform better than the other 3? I doubt it. The sales have really declined for everyone over the last couple of years. If the album wasn't available on streaming platforms for a while (let's say a month or two), it might have a chance to sell a decent num...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

@Andy92: up until St. Anger, the Metallica songs flowed for the most part. The transitions never felt awward, and most of the choruses sounded like they belonged to the song. Death Magnetic, on the other hand, sounded like an album whose parts were virtually assembled on Pro-tools. Also, Megadeth ha...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

By the way, once the Megadeth influenced solo kicks in, we can see multiple nuclear mushrooms. If you didn't know, Megadeth's name was inspired by the term megadeath. Here's its definition: Megadeath (or megacorpse) is a term for one million human deaths, usually caused by a nuclear explosion. Also,...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

I'm genuinely wondering why he insists on including poppy choruses in every song he writes, since two or three tunes at best will get some radio airplay. I know he likes melodies, but why force it when it obviously doesn't fit with the rest of the song?

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

Anyone else hearing Megadeth in this song?? Yup. I'm hearing glimpses of the 1986-1990 Megadeth era once the song kicks in after 30 seconds and also during the solo, especially when he's hitting those high notes at 3:35. Also, the drumming at the beginning sounds a lot like Ravel's Bolero. The chor...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Have you heard Tremonti’s latest solo stuff? Creed can wait. Nope. A couple of weeks ago, I actually listened to all 3 Tremonti albums back to back with an open mind. Everything sounded the same to my ears after a while. Mark is still a riff machine, but his songs have become very bland and predict...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

Yeah, I definitely hear certain throwbacks to the mid-00s. Reminds me of Foo Fighters' No Way Back. +1 I like that Foo Fighters era, so I have no problem with that. Bridge doesn't fit at all. My main issue with the song. It also feels like I've heard that solo a million times before. But overall, i...

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

Kudos to him for pushin himself and trying to do something a bit different.
But IMHO, there's not enough "meat" on this song to justify a 6+ minute length.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

This French show had the best musical selection I can think of. If you liked rock or metal in the 90's, almost every band that mattered performed on that show (Metallica, Slayer, Nirvana, Prince, Sepultura, AC/DC, Machine Head, Page & Plant, Muse, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, Faith No Mor...

Re: Myles Kennedy Solo Tour 2018

It's so cool to see him unearth those old MF4 songs. The people in the audience don't seem to realize how lucky they are. Damn the crowd was REALLY into this one, Myles seemed very pleasantly surprised by it. One of my favorite AB songs period, always wondered why they never released it as a single ...

Re: New Slash/MK Album On The Way

What is Myles going to do in 2019?
Slash is probably going to want to tour his ass off as usual, but it's supposed to be an AB year.
I also wonder if they'll keep playing any GNR songs live, now that the band is back.

Re: Tremonti pt #4 - A Dying Machine

A Dying Machine sounds like a Fear Factory album title, and the album cover is also a perfect fit for that band.
I guess Mark will talk about artificial intelligence, robots, and the end of the human race.

Re: "No more sorrow, now it's gone."

I'm actually fine with the band being done for good. They had their chance at making a comeback and all blew it : Stapp was disrespectful to Mark, Mark refused to go into full Creed mode (both live and in the studio), and Flip couldn't ever play on the proper tempo. The chemistry was never really on...

Re: Myles Kennedy Solo Tour 2018

JBut not during serious songs. Compare the way he sings when he does a radio show to the way he sings before a crowd. It's very different. He seems way more into the songs when he's not trying to entertain a crowd, and ironically I find that a lot more entertaining. +1 I, for one, LOVED his recent ...

Re: Myles Kennedy Solo Tour 2018

Another kinda negative thing I noticed.. He's so obviously entertaining sometimes. Which works with Alter Bridge and Slash, but acoustically it's a bit fake. It weird when he's giggling during Haunted By Design, which is so dark, or does all kind of weird poses during harder songs. Just close your ...

Re: Myles Kennedy - "Year of the Tiger"

Yes indeed.
I haven't heard the original song, but he totally made it his own.
This makes me hope he'll release an acoustic album with covers of his favourite songs someday.
