Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

That In Loving Memory acoustic performance was great.
Too bad we could barely hear what the guys were saying during the interview.

Re: AB VI Studio/Recording Thread

It's very interesting to read some of those comments on the Ultimate-Guitar website, especially since everybody seems to agree there is an issue with the production. Compression/production: Just like everything on The Last Hero... the composition of the song isn't bad, but good god their production ...

Re: $$$

Mark, Flip, and Brian made enough money with Creed that they are financially set to raise their families and all. Creed's really succesful years happened a LONG time ago, and bands didn't make as much money as they do now on the road (tickets were much cheaper). Plus, it didn't last long enough (3-...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Here is an interview where he briefly talks about his son freezing on stage ! https://youtu.be/arjwK2_dO-w And another angle of Red Clouds: https://youtu.be/NoWDcyTd2Uc It sounds like he's indeed using a backing track, which is probably a first in his career. I can't understand what made him do that.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Yup, something's definitely weird. I hope we'll soon hear another live version.

By the way, the way Stapp acts on stage (crouching/leaning forward ) is kinda reminiscent of his Creed days.
I'm still not sure it's a song that will work live, though.

He talks about it in this interview, where he also goes into more details about Name and Gone Too Soon:

Here's also a GREAT video interview with WAAF, where he shares a couple of interesting early Creed anecdotes:

Here's an interview with Kerrang: https://www.kerrang.com/features/scott-stapp-i-should-not-be-here-its-only-by-the-grace-of-god-that-i-was-spared/ A few excerpts: With hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently in terms of reacting to your depression? “Knowing what I know now, I w...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

@Devil Inside You: Great review. I'm just surprised you're throwing Red Clouds into the "run of the mill rock tracks". To me, it's a quite unique song in his catalogue, and it doesn't sound formulaic whatsoever.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

We're living in a streaming world, and guess what, rock, hard rock and metal aren't popular with youngsters who use Spotify and Apple Music. This era is all about hip-hop, and some artists manage to get into the top ten while only selling a couple of hundred copies a week. Look at this article from ...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Those numbers are the actual physical sales. The official charts will be published next Wednesday and will include the streming numbers.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Sales numbers don't really matter anymore in 2019, but still, here they are. https://i.imgur.com/vlzMd7k.png #10 isn't so bad, but he's obviously going to chart much lower when they include the streaming numbers. To put things in perspective: Scott Stapp The Great Divide: 94,000 Proof of Life: 9,447...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

The vocals, the lyrics and the mixing sound very impressive .I will give a small review of the album song by song. Heaven in me: this is a song from the 90s ,love the lyrics and the higher line. Great tune with extremely good mixing Red Clouds: The diamond of the album , this sounds so hunting . fro...

Now, Napalm should promote Gone Too Soon ASAP, and this could actually be a game changer for Stapp's career.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Turn a mess into a message?
Isn't that what he already said 6 years ago or so when he was promoting Proof of Life?
It's also surprising to hear him say he wasted 12 years of his career. I guess he referrs to the 2002-2014 era.

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

I agree most of the songs on Stapp's record are radio-friendly, but they don't sound as formulaic as the AB or Tremonti stuff to my ears. The reason is probably that he worked with different songwriters, who each have their own approach, whereas Mark and Myles have been writing together with the sam...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

Is his solo stuff better than AB/Tremonti's last albums? No way. To each his own. Tremonti's albums all sound the same to me, the songs are insanely formulaic, and they have zero replay value after a while. That's what happens when you release so many albums in a short period of time, rush the writ...

Re: The Official SCOTT STAPP Thread

It's easily his best material since Weathered, and it's my favourite Creed-related album since Blackbird. I'm convinced a couple of songs would be highly succesful if they were sung by younger and more hip singers. Wake up Call is one of them, and even though it's not my cup of tea style-wise, it's ...
