Yes.
Look at Isolation's waveform.

The dynamics just aren't there.

Re: Alter Bridge - AB III VINYL [GOLD]

A brickwalled mix will sound bad both on CD and vinyl. The only way a vinyl could sound better would be to use the unmastered (meaning fully dynamic) version of the album, and I doubt it's gonna be the case. Nowadays, most vinyl LP's use the exact same master as the CD's, and the only tiny differenc...

Not that was ever any suspense about a producer change, but Elvis is confirmed for ABVI. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bucj6zBhCXR/ Happy Birthday to my partner in crime @elvisliberace Hard to believe this picture was taken almost 19 years ago when he engineered the second Mayfield 4 record. Re: NEW! A Glimmer of Hope

1. Tool is an exception.
2. 10,000 Days wasn't exactly well received.
3. I doubt the next album will make much of an impact. They've been a legacy band for a long while now.
4. If they started their career now, they would definitely have to release new music every 2 or 3 years, just like anyone else.

Re: NEW! A Glimmer of Hope

It would probably work if they gave Creed their full attention for 3 to 5 years straight. They could bring it back to a somewhat big level, I'm pretty sure of it. A formerly huge band like Creed deserves every member's full attention to stay on a certain level, and if you just do the bare minmum and...

Re: NEW! A Glimmer of Hope

Since they'll never catch the old chemistry of theirs, they should let it rest for good. I don't want to hear another half-assed album, and I certainly don't want them to mess their own songs up like they did in 2009 (adding Eric Friedman as a second live guitar player was a mistake IMHO). You can t...

From what I've seen on a few videos, he's a hard hitter, but he's a show-off who keeps playing with his sticks during the songs, and it's kind of annoying to watch.

Re: New Slash/MK Album On The Way

A first, I thought the album was very unremarkable, but it kinda grew on me after a few spins, and I can now say it's solid. I've just listened back to the previous two albums for the first time since their release, and boy haven't they aged well, so I'd say the new one is slightly better and more c...

So, I watched it last night. Here are my thoughts. Positive: - Flip killed it. In a show with an orchestra, the drummer is more essential than ever, and he was on point the whole night. Kudos to him! - Even though the bass was low in the mix, it was nice to hear some BMarsh bass lines here and there...

That's what I said in my earlier message. Mark is apparently still practicing a lot and writing all the time, so his playing should be even tighter than it was in the past!

Re: AB VI Speculation

Secondly, lose Elvis. He's done great things with this band but I think after the Last Hero was less well received a change would be good. Bring in a fresh mind who can push the band to their full potential. It's not gonna happen. I'm ready to bet he'll keep on producing every Alter Bridge/Tremonti...

I don't understand how anyone can get sloppier on guitar. If you're a tight player, you usuaully remain so until arthritis kicks in at old age.
It's not like he's stopped practicing.

He's in great physical shape and he stopped smoking.
It's no wonder his voice is almost back to what it used to be.

Re: Cauterize Production

Metallica hasn't had a good sounding album since 1998. St. Anger had some of the most horrible drums ever recorded. Death Magnetic was stupidly loud, and it took them 8 years to put a somewhat listenable version on iTunes and the Metstore. Hardwired to Self Destruct was a step in the right direction...

Re: Alter Bridge - Live At The Royal Albert Hall

That note by Myles was great. BUT (there's always a but), after two songs, I've gotta say I'm underwhelmed by the orchestral arrangements. They don't add much to the songs, and sometimes, the orchestra is barely audible. I reckon mixing so many instruments must be tough, but Metallica managed to do ...

I think it's the biggest issue.
He used to have an amazing ear for clean and distorted tones, and it just doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
