Re: Pawns & Kings (Alter Bridge - VII)

So I held off on every released track except Pawns & Kings, so I went into this one 90% blind, which I feel was the right call. After not liking a decent chunk of TLH and almost none of WTS, I am very pleased with this album. I mainly only dislike Holiday and Season of Promise, so 8/10 songs is ...

Re: Unpopular Opinions - Alter Bridge Edition

I'll also provide another unpopular opinion, but a bit of a more positive one: Clear Horizon is a fucking banger. Recognizing I just shit on WTS in my previous post a little bit (whoops), there are still some good tracks on the record. And Clear Horizon is the most underrated tune on the record. Th...

Re: Hypothetical AB VII - The Ides Of Marching In Time

If anything from the new AB album sounds like The Ides of March, I'll boycott. That's hyperbole, but outside of the title track, Worried Mind, and Love Rain Down, it's a very mediocre album. Only The Ides of March even sounds like something AB would do (that's a fantastic song by the way). I hear y...

Boy, tough crowd in here, huh? most of us actually like the album, to varying degrees also i recommend not paying any mind to the people who post in the comment section on ultimate-guitar.com lmao Being in an echo chamber does no one any favors. Re: Marching In Time

It has been so interesting to ready such different opinions on MIT, Mark, his song writing, whats "good music" and whats not etc. A poll might be interesting. Can someone do a poll (cant figure out how) with these options: When it comes to Tremonti & AB: (check all that apply) 1. I li...

Re: Marching In Time

I used to be a film critic and this reminds me of the debate over the MCU and "comfort food" cinema. Are there a lot of "comfort food" elements to this album? Yes. And that's always been a part of Mark. He loves yacht rock just as much as he loves thrash. That's who he is. There...

Re: Marching In Time

I get that Tremonti is a band that mixes melody with metal, but I think there's a huge difference between "melody" and blatantly obvious pop. Some of these choruses I'd expect from Nickelodeon / Disney Channel type of bands. It just sounds heavier because of the distortion, and because Ma...

Yep, the song is an instant skip for me simply due to the chorus. Love everything else about the song, but it flat out ruins the song for me.

Re: Marching In Time

I can understand how this is a concern given that Tremonti is supposed to be the faster, nastier, shreddy, metal of him, but honestly, given my personal detachment with metal and its culture nowadays, it doesn't bother me much that he can bring the nasty riffs and pair it with the melodic singalong...

Re: Marching In Time

The thing that sounds a bit weird to me and which happens a bunch of times on the album is the juxtaposition of some unbelievably fantastic heavy thundering thrash intro riffs that then morph into beautiful soaring almost arena rock quality choruses. Both by themselves are so good, but they sort of...

In One Piece/Under the Sun are two awesome songs that seem to be slipping right past people.

Also, are lyrics up anywhere? I've had the physical CD since Monday, but I'm really lazy and don't wanna type them into Music Bee.

Re: Marching In Time

Got my copy of the album in the mail, and I'm really not sure about it, to be honest. It's definitely not on the level of ADM, but there are some decent songs. In One Piece, Under the Sun, Let That Be Us, Would You Kill and Marching in Time are awesome, but most of the rest seem to have this thing w...

I initially thought that had to be a new low, but The Last Hero album was like that for me in a lot of spots.

Re: Marching In Time

For the first time for any AB/Tremonti release, listening to the first single is all I'm gonna do. I've absolutely ruined my album experiences the last few cycles by listening to the singles that have been released. Can't remember if it was ADM or a previous album, but I remember a stupid amount of ...

Re: Marching In Time

Not feeling this one at all. It's leaning far too heavily into the pop/modern metal sound for my tastes, which is disappointing because I felt with ADM (especially the title track) that Tremonti had really matured in terms of writing metal music. I am also worried about the loss of Garrett on this a...
